To want a shopping trolley at 27

I'm 27, pregnant and have an old knee injury. The fact that we don't have a car means I have to walk to and from (10 mins each way) the shops a couple of times during the week. Carrying a rucksack and bags is killing me so I have considered in investing in one of these:

www.amazon.co.uk/Sholley-Shopping-Trolley-Tartan-centimetres/dp/B018CWIUJA?tag=mumsnetforum-21

DP says I will look ridiculous and get strange looks. He also says they're only for elderly ladies. AIBU to want to get one?

Ive got one it's fab : ) like you I was apprehensive at first, but now it makes my life so much easier not hurling big heavy bags of shopping. I use it as I live a 10 min walk away from my local supermarket. I'm mid thirties .... these trollies aren't just for old people & my shopping trips are now so much easier.

Mine is this one, the brand is 'Eagle' & it's currently £14.95 on eBay. I can fit quite a good lot of shopping in mine Smile

We had one when we lived in Paris (mid 20s), but so did everyone. Brought it back to the U.K. because it was so amazingly useful - we used it for all sorts. It was especially useful for bringing home our Christmas tree on the frame, bringing paint back from B&Q... it took a lot of punishment and finally broke, but now we have kids we use the pram. I wouldn’t hesitate in buying another once they can both walk decent distances. Carrying shopping is for mugs!

Omg I've thought about this too.

Please can we start a new trend. We need some hipsters or something to make it ok.

At first I only used mine in the dark Hmmwhich was very convenient in winter as it got dark early. Up until a couple of weeks ago I thought I was doomed due to it getting lighter... although I'm not going to tell porkies it has taken a while for me to get used to it as I thought it was a granny trolley too. But the benefits of having non achey arms far outweighs the slight decrease in Street credibility lol. I picked the least granny like one I could find ( see my pics below ) I think the trick is 2 wheels instead of 4 and it looking more like a bag on wheels instead of a bulky thing with 4 wheels. I now happily use my leopardskin granny trolley in the daytime with no shame Biscuit

Manoeuvres up curbs are a tad tricky like
but I couldn't imagine going back to lugging huge bags & achey arms now 👍🏻

I got one from IKEA a few years ago now. Mainly as my youngest had got to an age where she no longer needed a pushchair but I missed being able to load up picnic food, blankets, coats, wellies, waterproofs, sunscreen, hats, swim wear, towel for our days out.

Also found it handy on our main summer holiday for taking stuff to the pool.

When my DS2 grew out of his buggy, I did buy one, but I was too embarrassed to use it, so it went in the charity shop. To be fair, I did find it a bit difficult to pull along-and it inexplicably me feel quite old! I had a good 10 years on you though. Maybe you are young enough to pull it off as a trend!

I spend 18 months in Ireland from 2002. They’d already introduced the bag charge there, so shopping trolley’s were common place. I’ve had one ever since.

I do not and will not ever care what anyone else thinks.

I’m a student and have long walks to the shops and they are perfect for me :) doesn’t hurt your hands and allows you to get big things
