Razor left on side of the bath

My dp has just had a massive go at me for leaving a razor (with its cover on) on the side of the bath. Because his dd may pick it up. She’s 10! I feel this is a bit OTT. She’s not a bloody toddler! AIBU?

He's being ridiculous. I was shaving my legs by the time I was 10, not that my mum knew.

NC4Now · 08/04/2018 09:57

YANBU. That’s way OTT.

AjasLipstick · 08/04/2018 09:57

YANBU

But having said that it's a bit manky looking and off-putting isn't it? I try to remember to put mine away...or bin them.

DH always puts his away. Does your DP put his away?

trojanpony · 08/04/2018 09:58

😂 yanbu

CosmicCanary · 08/04/2018 09:58

No YANBU.
At 10 unless the child has a LD they should know what to touch and what not to touch.

AnoiaUnstickMyDrawers · 08/04/2018 09:58

At 11 I used my dad's razor to shave my legs for the first time. (not recommending, just stating fact!) I managed not to lose any fingers. He's being ridiculous.

Mrscog · 08/04/2018 09:59

Yanbu!

Birdsgottafly · 08/04/2018 10:00

Isn't she using knives to do basic meals, by now?

This babying won't do her any good.

Brazenhussy0 · 08/04/2018 10:01

Yanbu. He's being ridiculous.

lookingforaline18 · 08/04/2018 10:01

She's 10, she's old enough to know not to play with it. He's being absolutely ridiculous.

FlibbertyGiblets · 08/04/2018 10:02

Perhaps he doesn't want his preteen dd imbibing messages about grooming at her young age. Fairynuff.

mindutopia · 08/04/2018 10:02

I regularly do this and our older one is 5 (and have for probably a year or more). Even at 3/4 she knew it was sharp and not to touch it and she never had.

himynameiss · 08/04/2018 10:02

Bloody hell my toddler put a razor near her mouth the other day I didn’t get shouted at by my partner. I was shaving by 10 Smile

Sammysees · 08/04/2018 10:05

No it wasn’t manky Smile. New razor and only did my armpits. No LD other than he treats her like a toddler! Dp razor is in the en-suite on a shelf so no he doesn’t put it away but then dsd not in the en-suite. And yes she does have a knife when she eats her dinner but tends to use her fingers or get dp to cut up her food! I despair!

MumofBoysx2 · 08/04/2018 10:10

I wouldn't have left it out, but he seems to have ridiculously overreacted. A simple request would have done!

Juells · 08/04/2018 10:11

I dunno, I'd take that as "he's pissing on his boundaries", and be annoyed. Unless he's worrying about possible repercussions from the resident parent? Might he get a phonecall claiming the DS's life had been put in danger by evil SM?

Rachie1973 · 08/04/2018 10:12

Good grief. She's going to have some problems

summacummamumma · 08/04/2018 10:13

Ten years old and her dad still cuts up her food? Hmmm, maybe have a chat with him or show him this thread? She is going to grow up useless with that much cotton wool wrapped around her...

Sammysees · 08/04/2018 10:18

Both parents treat her like a toddler, therefore she acts like one. “She’ll grow out of it” is a common phrase in our house Hmm

FFS he’s being a complete twat.

How long have you been with him?

abigailsnan · 08/04/2018 10:20

I wouldn't have left it out but then I'm a neat freak and everything put back as soon as used.
DD is old enough to know what to touch and what not to your OH is over reacting massively.
What is he going to do when she starts going out with pals will he go with her !!

kaytee87 · 08/04/2018 10:21

Yanbu 😂 I thought you were going to say she was a toddler!

AnnieAnoniMouser · 08/04/2018 10:22

Does he lock the sharp knives away in the kitchen?

No?!

Ask him what he thinks is more dangerous?...

Scabetty · 08/04/2018 10:30

No scissors for her then either I guess. Dd was shaving armpits and legs by 11 yo as she was swimming regularly. Yanbu and I would be pointing this out loudly.

kaytee87 · 08/04/2018 10:40

On a serious note, it sounds like he just wanted to have a go at you about something.
