Are supermarket pick up points only for taxi’s, AIBU?

I did most of my shopping at one supermarket today but there were just a couple of items I needed from another supermarket. Dh was driving me (I don’t drive) and insisted on waiting at the pick up point for me ‘rather than try finding a space for ages to only be in it 3 minutes’
Anyway, as I got out of the car an older lady shouted at me from a bench that she was waiting on ‘you shouldn’t park there, this is for taxis!’ So I replied (nicely) that it isn’t just for taxis, the sign says pick up point and doesn’t mention taxis and I’ll only be two minutes. She interjected loudly that actually she is a lawyer and it’s for taxis only. Well I’m not about to start having a massive row with the lady so I just replied with a smile ‘are you? Well did you see that I’ve got out of the passenger seat? Perhaps you could have this out with the driver?’ And walked away. When I got back she’d been picked up by her taxi, dh said she’d been complaining to the lady on the next bench that it was for taxis only and again to her taxi driver, both seemed to agree with her. Now, my df is a taxi driver and assured me that it isn’t for taxis only but suggested that it was probably not great for dh to just park and wait there, he said I should get out by the doors, dh should drive to the pick up point and wait for me because then he is genuinely picking me up. I’m not sure I see the difference apart from those people watching me get out assuming were ‘parking’ for ages. AIBU? Please be kind if I am!

im waiting for my teenage old son
but he took longer- about 20 min, but SO What - These are kids and u have to be compassionate
what if theres No other parking spaces in the car park available??

It's pick up and drop off only, not parking or waiting. You were wrong.

I've seen idiots at my local tescos park in the drop off point, go in and do shopping. And that was the driver. But these are also the same idiots that get confused about roundabouts even though the lines show you where to go, so.. Not really surprising.

Yabu though. He should have just bothered to park or drove round like an idiot. I'm sure there would have been spaces further away.

At my local Tescos people park in the drop off/pickup space all the time. They leave no one in the car.

Why do you feel the need to keep telling us you have a BMW, @ZaraBMW? To be honest, your behaviour doesn't seem calculated to endear anyone to BMW owners.

@kaytee yeah sure but u dont know WHY that person is waiting there also? .Maybe their other half is walking out with a healing broken ankle also ? Thats the point - noone knows Anyone elses story so shouldnt Judge . none is more Entitled than someone else surely? its a pick up + drop off point 4 all + even of some1 is waiting like half an hour noone knows what is their situation

@spongejack its a pick up drop off point spongejack. i was picking up my teenage son - he told me 5 min im coming. so i WAS waiting to pick him up. Do u want me to GO within 1 second if he doesnt arrive EXACTLY within the 5 min. people with unrealistic+ ridiculous mentality. SO i think YOURE wrong. youre obv Entitled to your opinion but i will always be doing the same thing + if you have No compassion 4 that then youre problem Get over it.

@spongejack As i said As long as none ABUSES the rule on purpose i think its fine. I also asked tesco security man who agrees+ said its fine(just in case im totally wrong) Lets agree to disagree spongejack

Thats YOUR opinion + u entitled to it.As i said before its a pick+ drop off point .I was picking up my son ON HIS WAY THERE.What u want him to do FLY there. Jeez uncompassionate people. Get a Life . I think YOURE wrong . Its a reasonable thing surely? of course it is. - As i also said As long as noone Abuses it unfairly and its reasonable its fine and the security at tesco agree with me!!

So u blocked the drop off pick up zone for 20 minutes? Surely you could have parked in a parking spot and either get your son to txt you when he was there or walk over to the parking spot? Was he even shopping in tesco because by the sounds of your post he was arriving from somewhere else. The drop off pick up zone is intended for people to stop for a few minutes while they either drop off or load shopping then move so someone else can use it

@my2bundles . no it wasnt blocked off at all . there were many spaces. This woman just thought she is Entitled when she isnt . As i said if its Reasonable its fine .- as long as noone is doing it on purpose it should be fine! the security at tesco also agree!

@my2bundles - There is a long line of drop off and pick up point so a full line of cars can park - its a big tesco with underground parking. so it was not blocked at all

20 minutes is not reasonable . The only person sounding entitled is you. I don't for one second belive tesco are ok with this. Is your teen not capable of texting you when he arrives or walking to a normal parking spot to be picked up?
