Helmet for 10month old

GloveandSpecialsauce · 11/05/2007 09:26

Ok. My dd is determined to stand and tries to hold herself into anything. She sometimes misses and bangs her head on the floor (oak floor).

DH wants to buy a helmet. He is very serious about it. I think it is a bit extreme and utterly OTT.

Any thougts?

ott. never heard of anything like it!

NoodleStroodle · 11/05/2007 09:27

Umm - I think that is a bit OTT unless DD has fragile skull.

Isn't that a learning thing - hit head - don't do that again...try to land on bottom

compo · 11/05/2007 09:28

actually he could be on to a business idea!!

GloveandSpecialsauce · 11/05/2007 09:28

cheers!

I thought he was joking but today he mentioned again.

So is he going to buy her one of those padded suits as well, so she will never ever hurt herself . I am sorry it just sounds so OTT

NoodleStroodle · 11/05/2007 09:37

Or put her in a padded cell?

cylonbabe · 11/05/2007 09:39

completely ott

SoupDragon · 11/05/2007 09:41

Oh they do sell them. Damned if I can remember what they're called though. Completely OTT however.

misdee · 11/05/2007 09:43

something guard they are called, i think.

but completely OTT, is dd a PFB?

hippmummy · 11/05/2007 09:44

Yes they do sell them - there was a thread months ago with a link to the website!
The poor OP got totally ribbed and was even accused of being the seller trying to get free advertising!
I wish I could find it and could do links...

misdee · 11/05/2007 09:45

thudguard!

GloveandSpecialsauce · 11/05/2007 09:58

Thanks girls, DH will chuffed he can purchase one for his little princess!

First time fathers!

OP posts:
misdee · 11/05/2007 10:00

lol so a PFB then

belgo · 11/05/2007 10:00

OTT. Both my dds have learnt to walk on tiled(sp?) floors.

Hathor · 11/05/2007 10:05

They do sell padded headgear for people/children with epilepsy. Not usually needed for your average child. They may fall once then learn not to.
Tempting to wrap them in cotton wool though.

maisemor · 11/05/2007 10:12

Sorry give up, what does PFB mean?

misdee · 11/05/2007 10:13

precious first born, its meant i na jokey way.

i think dh would've got dd1 a thudguard as well btw, lol.

SoupDragon · 11/05/2007 10:38

Yes, PFB describes the way we all were OTT wrt caring for our first babies.

GloveandSpecialsauce · 11/05/2007 18:53

gingersj · 11/05/2007 18:57

He is very OTT IMHO.

Did he get you a padded suit when you were pregnant?

Melly · 11/05/2007 19:08

Think he is completely OTT, but do think it's quite sweet in a way as well

lemonaid · 11/05/2007 19:09

Way OTT. Way, way, way, way, way OTT.

WigWamBam · 11/05/2007 19:11

Sorry, but I think he's barking.

MrMariella · 11/05/2007 19:21

i think he is a loving caring father, on this evidence alone.

It's different for boys/men. When mums provide just about everything for necessary care and survival of little one's , we havethe invitation to bounce around on the fringes trying( and sometimes over-trying) to add something.

Go easy on him. He's not loopy.

pudding77 · 11/05/2007 19:32

I do think its sweet of him but it is a bit ott. A friend of ours got one for her little boy though and as a result he is terrified of falling over!
