Ok. My dd is determined to stand and tries to hold herself into anything. She sometimes misses and bangs her head on the floor (oak floor).

DH wants to buy a helmet. He is very serious about it. I think it is a bit extreme and utterly OTT.

Any thougts?

I love the great typo on that thud guard site: 'heart rendering' moment. Creates a rather unfortunate slaughterhouse image... think they meant heart-rending.

One of my pals used a bike helmet for her ds. But I'm with the OTT gang I'm afraid. That '..and especially the fontanelle' on the Thudguard site annoys me. Has anyone ever heard of a child injuring its fontanelle whilst learning to walk???

Ooopsydaisy · 12/05/2007 17:23

Gosh, never heard the fontanelle thing happening. Great pics of padded hat!

Popopo · 13/05/2007 22:02

So OTT and hillarious.
Will you post pics if you go for one?

JazzyGsMummy · 26/07/2007 21:14

Why can't I see these pic's? I get a message saying "No such page
Either lyrabelacqua has not created a public page yet or its privacy settings don't allow you to see it." I wanna see I wanna see I wanna see

I fantasized about getting one for my son, as his 6 year round of stitches/ glue/ steristrips began when he was about 10 months. I also used to dream of a padded cell/room where I could leave him for a few minutes so that I could relax without him getting hurt. In the end, he seemed to grow into his head size, learned how to keep his head from hitting the floor, and generally became more cautious (a bit!). Harsh though it sounds, I think the injuries probably helped that process along, with the result that he now very rarely gets hurt at all. I think your husband is being OTT as well, I'm afraid, but I can understand the impulses behind it. I think he should resist them though.
