AIBU to say Why the hell did the TV show, The Kennedys, get cancelled?

Just found this BBC show on Netflix.

Comedy about family life in the 70s.. one of the main characters is ‘Jen’ from the IT crowd.

It is laugh out load funny.. binge watched 6 episodes then looked for season 2 - THERE ISN’T ONE 😱😱😱😱

Apparently the show was cancelled because it didn’t get enough viewers in its original Friday 9.30pm slot.

Honestly.. how can some drivel get commissioned forever , and fabulous tv like this get binned .

Anyone else watch it? Or others shows you loved got cancelled??

I watched it on Netflix as well. It was really funny disappointed it got cancelled. Maybe we should nag Netflix to pick it back up and make it themselves.

I thought it was brilliant! Hopefully Netflix pick it up, they often do if they get the viewing figures.

The book is called "The Tent, the Bucket and Me". I completely love the Kennedys; it gives me the same nostalgic 70s feels as The Good Life. And it contains the immortal phrase 'beef Queen'. A real shame it wasn't recommissioned - something must be done!

That's the one by Emma Kennedy? I loved that too. Years ago something would get three or four series and bf allowed to pick up viewers but it's got to be a hit straight away now or it's cancelled.

The Kennedys is really funny. I never noticed it in the bbc though. Maybe lack of advertising was the problem. Also it being on a Friday.

The don’t want to invest in comedies anymore. They are rarely hits straight away. The best example was always Men Behaving Badly - dumped by ITV as a series 1 flop.
Comedy needs word of mouth to grow and they don’t give them time

I watched it on Netflix and LOVED it. We lived in a house just like the Kennedys in the 70s and 80s and this show brought back so many lovely memories (we used to have dinner parties too and I usually made lasagne)
