DS is 5mo and we are going to start weaning at 6mo. He is already showing a big interest in food and is showing all other signs of being ready so want to try as soon as he is old enough.

I like the sound of BLW and maybe a bit of spoon feeding as well but.. well where do I start? Offering food just once a day? And should I put a few different finger foods in front of him or let him try one at a time? How did you wean your baby?

As you can probably guess by my tone, I am a first time mum so I have no idea where to start!

NO, it’s not the acronyms , it’s the need to give everything a title and belong to a ‘group’.
But just ignore any helpful advice in my post

DD - can't remember, was probably a fromage frais! We left it on her tray with a spoon and she tucked right in. Not sure how much she ate but it went everywhere!! We did baby led weaning so she ate pretty much what we did. We used jars/pouches when more convenient to do so though (we never heated them though so DD would eat them where ever we were regardless of distance to a microwave!)

DS - chocolate buttons at 5mo. Was given by the adult son of a lovely friend. I found it really funny although our friend was mortified his son had fed our son his first food and it was chocolate Grin

Feeding babies mashed foods and letting them self feed finger foods is surely just called 'weaning' and is what most people in most societies for all of human history have done

You'd think that'd be quite a sensible approach too.
