AIBU to feel a sense of loss

Was offered two jobs (independently) by the same organisation. I chose the one which was more practical location/T&C wise, even though I secretly feel the other role would be more exciting. I just sent off a rejection letter to the team lead on the role I won't be taking, and I'm feeling sad and dejected. AIBU to be going through this? Both roles are good career wise, I just can't shake the feeling that I've made a mistake. I guess it doesn't help that I hate my current role, and that I'm worried I'll make the same mistake again (ending up in a job I hate due to taking it for 'practical' reasons).

I also don't yet have a formal offer for either role, but because they're both with the same organisation I had to make a choice early as they share the same HR department and there's a possibility I'd have to interact with the rejected party in the future.

I'm just feeling confused and miserable atm, not how you're supposed to feel after landing a new job.

Totally understandable. There is always regret for the path not taken.
We would need a thousand lives to explore all the What ifs.
Sounds like you have made the right choice. Congratulations Smile
