For me, the Parkland children being belittled and abused in so many ways is utterly heartbreaking to witness. But they have been more adult than the adults in their response. They have shown us what faith means, and bravery. POTUS? He is made much, much smaller.

A long read but excellent summing up of all the shenanigans in one place.

From Joy-Ann Reid:

The Republicans Are Clinging Frantically to Power
www.thedailybeast.com/the-republicans-are-clinging-frantically-to-power

Republicans are also desperate to stem another tide that was visible in the patina of last Saturday’s march. The multiracial future isn’t coming, it’s here. Millennials and post-millennials are the most diverse demographics in American history. Together, they number more than 95 million people (depending on how you count them, versus the 76 million baby boomers who were born, not all of whom still live, and the 55 million births for my generation, Generation X. These younger cohorts, in large part because they are chock full of people of color, are far more liberal than their parents or grandparents’ generation; more accepting of LGBT rights, less interested in where trans people go to the bathroom, more attuned to the realities of white privilege, police brutality and economic inequality, frankly, more moral and less relativistic, and now, thanks to Parkland, more determined than ever to vote out the politicians who serve corporate masters rather than the popular will. Republicans ignore teenage voters and pre-voters at their peril. If they don’t get you in 2018, wait till 2020.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 31/03/2018 08:55

Will there be any way of getting them in 2020 though. It feels as though 2018 is the last shot at trying to prise permanent power away from the gop; miss, and they’ll alter the system to preserve their influence infinitely

Talking to a friend of DH who is visiting us from the US this weekend. She tutors students in their college applications. She says she's never experienced such political passion from them before and she's been doing this job for over 12 years.

Admittedly the majority of her students come from East Coast middle-class families but they are a mix of Dems and GOP.

In her current cohort, most of the students are vocally anti-Trump and intend to volunteer and campaign and vote.

I have hope!

Is this latest propaganda designed to coincide with this particular month (National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month) and counter the notion that the President is a predator?

Or is that too organised?

This is a story I'd like to see tracked to its source.

FYI: Roseanne is referring to an insane web of conspiracy theories (The Storm) spread by a 4chan user (QAnon).

How insane? Trump once took a sip of Fiji water & Q said it was a secret sign that Trump was abt to bring down a child sex-trafficking ring involving Hillary Clinton.

Lawyer Gloria Allred withdraws from Summer Zervos’s defamation suit against Trump

Gloria Allred, the prominent women’s rights attorney who represented former “Apprentice” contestant Summer Zervos in her high-profile defamation suit against President Trump, is withdrawing from the case.
In a statement Friday, Zervos said it was her decision to end the legal relationship. “I decided to part ways with Gloria Allred purely for personal reasons,” she said, “having nothing to do with her work as my attorney.”
Mariann Meier Wang, Allred’s New York-based co-counsel, will continue to represent Zervos.
The shake-up is the latest twist in a saga that Zervos said began in 2007, when she alleges Trump groped her at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Trump called Zervos and his other accusers “liars,” and in January 2017 Zervos filed a defamation suit against him. She retained the services of Allred, who now represents other women with cases against Trump.
Allred issued a statement Thursday to the Associated Press saying her withdrawal has “nothing to do with the merits of her case against President Trump.” She declined to comment further to The Washington Post, writing only in an email that she continues “to represent 3 other Trump accusers including Jessica Drake,” a porn star who accused Trump of sexual misconduct.
Zervos was one of several women to come forward with allegations in the run-up to the 2016 election.

While we are on the subject, it is reported that the U.S. Post Office will lose $1.50 on average for each package it delivers for Amazon. That amounts to Billions of Dollars. The Failing N.Y. Times reports that “the size of the company’s lobbying staff has ballooned,” and that...

...does not include the Fake Washington Post, which is used as a “lobbyist” and should so REGISTER. If the P.O. “increased its parcel rates, Amazon’s shipping costs would rise by $2.6 Billion.” This Post Office scam must stop. Amazon must pay real costs (and taxes) now!

Some answers to questions about the VA.

www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2018/03/ronny-jackson-va/556799/?utm_source=twb

'The VA is the second-largest federal department, overseeing 1,243 health-care facilities including 170 hospitals, which tend to be a ghostly network of dim, mid-century structures that bear the scars of serving as constant political battlefields. They tend to have bad food and no marble and bizarre gift shops that I’ve seen sell knives and cured meats. Yet VA hospitals seem to underscore the waste of the glitz of five-star-hospital-style academic medical centers. The system punches above its weight in the quality and safety of care it delivers compared to most of the private health-care industry.'
