To think Creme Egg "treats" have gone too far and actually look gross

I'm talking about the novelty stuff bakeries and pubs are doing for Easter, lately I've seen advertised -
Creme Egg sundae
Battered Creme Egg
Millionaires slice topped with Creme Egg
Creme Egg cheese cake

AIBU to think these sound utterly revolting and sickly? I don't get it (then again I never 'got' pulled pork or salted caramel crazes so maybe I'm the weirdo)

OP posts:

Having had a Creme egg sundae yesterday I can confirm it was not gross!

HelenaDove · 28/03/2018 16:12

Creme Eggs are rank.

Anyone else remember the Mackintosh Toffee and Mallow egg (same size as a creme egg) now that was yummy.

flissfloss65 · 28/03/2018 16:13

I saw a creme egg trifle the other day. Looked so cloying and sickily.

SoftBlocks · 28/03/2018 16:15

There’s a restaurant serving Creme Egg Yorkshire Pudding which is a Yorkshire pudding full of chocolate sponge sandwiched together with melted Creme eggs. Mmmm!

MsGameandWatching · 28/03/2018 16:16

It's the yellow fondant that ruins it. The creme egg trifle is actually layers of chocolate mousse - good! Creamy topping - good! Yellow fondant splatted on top - grim!

Woofygoldberg · 28/03/2018 16:22

I agree- Creme Eggs are horrible vomit inducing monstrosities!

However, Cadbury Mini Eggs improve anything and are a cure for all ills Wink

MongerTruffle · 28/03/2018 16:25

They all sound very nice, even though I'm not keen on Creme Eggs themselves but I still eat them.

HelenaDove · 28/03/2018 16:25

I saw a Baileys Easter Sundae in a magazine ..........a big chocolate Easter egg with a hole in the top and filled with Baileys then chocolate marshmallows and maltesers and sprinkles and more bits and topped with a drinking straw ................ugh.

halcyondays · 28/03/2018 16:26

yes, I loved the toffee and mallow eggs, wish they'd bring them back.
I'm not a fan of Creme eggs anyway.

VioletCharlotte · 28/03/2018 16:37

Agreed. I keep seeing cream egg tarts and cheesecakes on Facebook. They look so sickly! A cream egg on its own is enough sweet stuff for me.

flowerslemonade · 28/03/2018 16:41

I tried one a few days ago and it made me feel sick, I don't remember they used to be like that (horrible).

N2986 · 28/03/2018 16:44

Cream egg brownie Envy not envy!

Glumglowworm · 28/03/2018 16:44

Battered cream eggs look repulsive

I had a scotch egg cream egg a couple of years ago which was very nice but even though I’m a very greedy fat person I couldn’t eat more than half of one

HelenaDove · 28/03/2018 18:26

Now THESE are my kind of Easter egg.

jaseyraex · 28/03/2018 18:31

I make a creme egg cheesecake and creme egg rocky road every Easter. I can confirm they are definitely not gross! I will give you the battered creme egg though, that sounds a bit too interesting for me.

Bababing1 · 28/03/2018 18:37

Agreed! really hate this trend to heap more and more stuff/choc bars/marshmallows/sauces/cream / sweets on top of cakes, milkshakes etc. And making cakes taller and taller with more layers.Look revolting and sloppy. And imagine being faced with that as a choice with chold in tow? They would hyped for hrs.

Louiselouie0890 · 28/03/2018 19:03

They're vile things. You can feel the sugar gritting in your teeth.

73kittycat73 · 28/03/2018 19:03

Creme Egg cheese cake

I'd have to have a sample of this before I could possibly say. Grin

I saw advertised on here last week a food chain (Sorry, can't remember which one.) doing a Yorkshire pudding filled crème egg cake. The cake part looked yum and I love Yorkshire pudding, but together?! Hmm Shock

DontCallMeBaby · 28/03/2018 19:05

Toffee and mallow eggs were amazing. They really ought to come back - call them salted caramel and mallow eggs and they’d fly off the shelves. Into my mouth, mostly.

Orangecake123 · 28/03/2018 19:12

I'm not a fan of creme eggs. I can only eat the outside of them.

MorganKitten · 28/03/2018 19:34

They are my fave treat so nope... bring on more!

OohMavis · 28/03/2018 19:41

The creme egg scotch eggs look revolting. There's a woman on my facebook selling them for £3 each and they literally look like someone shat on a plate.
