to think that 66" curtains for a 41" space will look rubbish? It needs to be double, ie at least 82" right?

Made a mistake ordering curtains for a bay window.
The sides currently have curtains each 66" wide and the main part has curtains each 96" wide.

The curtains we like only come in one size , 66"wide and I mistakenly thought that was the size for the main section and we could reduce them to fit the sides ... but i was wrong, 66" is the size needed for the sides.

On the theory that you need curtains twice the size of the space (mine are 1.6 times the size of the space) will they look completely rubbish?
Should I just return them and start searching again?

You can have curtains 1.5 x the width of your window butbthey tehd to be certain styles like eyelets.

Can you not buy two pairs and sew them together?

MereDintofPandiculation · 28/03/2018 20:39

Can you get one extra? Split down the middle and added to the two middle ones it would make them both 99" (or a bit less allowing for seam turnings)? If you go too close to the x1.5, they will close OK, but they'll look a bit skimpy. A full curtain looks more expensive and luxurious.

Are they dress curtains or will you be pulling them? If they’re for dress you’ll just about get away with it albeit they’ll look a bit skimpy

I got pencil pleat that are just x1.5 and they would have looked far better as x2. They look fine as dress curtains but aren't great for pulling
