Wow what a day,
My neighbour was in "early" labour this morning at 39 weeks so I popped in for cuppa and a chat.
3 hours later and a very quick..oh these contractions are getting painful to "I need to push"
Her ds was born into my arms.
Ambulance arrived 5 mins later.

I'm so proud of her and thrilled that I was there.

What a privilege to welcome new life into the world.

I'm on cloud nine

She got home about 9 tonight so I took my kids up to see baby and we all had a glass of prosecco.

I have delivered calves and lambs and of had 2 children but wow what a rush today was!

Mum and baby are both fine x

I have always wanted to be a midwife (age 41!)

It was one of the most proud things I have ever done in my life and I can't stop thinking about it and shedding a little tear

What a lucky woman you are. Bet you're walking on air.

FrozenMargarita17 · 26/03/2018 22:24

That is amazing!!

Whitegrenache · 26/03/2018 22:24

So lucky

Not many people get to do that.

We were only joking a few weeks ago when we were snowed in (rural farms) that she may have to have baby at home!

How wonderful! And how lucky for her that you were there and had some idea what you were doing, (I'd have panicked and run away to "get someone"). A lovely story so thank you for sharing that.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 26/03/2018 22:33

That is amazing Star

I delivered DS myself in a hospital loo last month. On paper it was a traumatic labour but secretly, given everything turned out okay, I'm glad it was just him and me.

HairyBallTheorem · 26/03/2018 22:42

Lovely! This has made me grin from ear to ear, OP.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 26/03/2018 22:45

Did you rub the baby with a handful of straw? Grin
