To deliver my neighbours baby?

Wow what a day,
My neighbour was in "early" labour this morning at 39 weeks so I popped in for cuppa and a chat.
3 hours later and a very quick..oh these contractions are getting painful to "I need to push"
Her ds was born into my arms.
Ambulance arrived 5 mins later.

I'm so proud of her and thrilled that I was there.

What a privilege to welcome new life into the world.

I'm on cloud nine

Congratulations! What an amazing experience.

My DH delivered our third dc. I was very put out that he definitely got more attention catching the baby than I did growing the baby and pushing her out..

Wow! You must feel amazing! I was student nurse when I first saw a baby born, it was immediately wrapped up and placed in my arms, I couldn’t stop sobbing!
Well done and congratulations!

Amazing. And you are not too old at 41 to realise your dream....maybe this is the sign.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 26/03/2018 22:59

that is so beautiful. How lucky for every one concerned. I love that you know you were the first person he saw. That's something really amazing. Well done, you.

JohnnyMcGrath
I delivered DS myself in a hospital loo last month.

Shock How did that happen? Do the hospital have to do an investigation? Shock Glad it worked out well for you though. Flowers Sorry for the derail OP. Flowers

Congratulations, what a wonderful memory you will always have.

mintyneb · 26/03/2018 23:01

It's an amazing experience isn't it? I delivered my neighbour's baby too a few years back. Only in the house less than 10 minutes before baby arrived

Flomper · 26/03/2018 23:03

My DP delivered my dc2 himself in hospital because the 2 midwives were on a tea break 😡

AlpacaLypse · 26/03/2018 23:05

MyNameIsAlexDrake · 27/03/2018 00:21

Aww such a lovely post. What an honour to deliver a healthy baby, and very brave on your part too!

MrsMozart · 27/03/2018 00:35

How lovely!

Welcome to the world little one.

Unktious · 27/03/2018 00:44

Wow, that’s amazing. You really are very privileged to have done that. I’m not suprised you are feeling on cloud nine. That’s brilliant that the Mum and the baby are already home.

Were you and the Mum calm or did it get a little panicky.

Mybrows · 27/03/2018 00:51

What a special experience!

Might pop round to see my heavily pregnant friend tomorrow and just sort of lurk around a bit in a hopeful way... :)

KC225 · 27/03/2018 00:58

Flipping heck. That must have been full strength tea.

Congratulations to you both

halfwitpicker · 27/03/2018 01:00

Rollonweekend · 27/03/2018 01:09

What a wonderful story !!!

Well done you. You must be high on life after that experience. I’m glad Mum and baby are well. You’ll never forget this. How lucky for her you were there !!

Unktious · 27/03/2018 01:12

BTW OP I forgot to mention it but YWNBU! 😂

However the baby might have been a little unreasonable to be in such a rush but I think they can be forgiven.

Italiangreyhound · 27/03/2018 01:19

Fabulous.

BitOfFun · 27/03/2018 01:29

How wonderful! I bet you'll be buzzing for days.

bellabelly · 27/03/2018 01:33

Wow! YABVU as I now have something in my eye... well done you.

Whitegrenache · 27/03/2018 07:27

Thanks all

I was very calm.

I had a midwife on the phone talking me through what to do.

I didn't use straw to wipe him down Wink

Mum was very stressed for about 30 mins and screaming etc which was worrying and their was meconium in her waters which freaked me out

His head only half delivered so I had to be quite forceful and tell her to push then "help" the babies head out.

He had a lot of meconium in his mouth and nose too which was scary but as soon as he was born I cleared this and he started crying
