Referencing an earlier post, but just using the poster name, and not what you are referencing is annoying

thats it really, is it just me that finds referencing an earlier post, but just using the poster name, and not what you are referencing is annoying?

so you have to scroll back up to find the poster, and then the post, and then find your way back to where you were in the thread....!

Yes it's really annoying, especially in big threads! I've seen a lot of people here against quoting system because it's causes huge nests of quotes that are a pain to scroll past.

But you can do one that only quotes one post so it's a lot easier to follow conversations.

Yanbu, very annoying.

PanPanPanPing · 25/03/2018 16:04

YANBU. I agree, although I try to scroll back, but in very long threads I give up the will to live sometimes ... and just give up.

It's easy enough to quote something, for example :

"I've seen a lot of people here against quoting"

Then, at least, you know what the PP said.

Becles · 25/03/2018 16:10

YADNBU!!!!!!

It's painful

I'd rather just have the comment than the name

Alabama yes I agree with everything you said Grin

I never take note of the user name unless it's particularly relevant/interesting to me so I'd much prefer people to quote the quote rather than the username. Also say if someone is taking to me, they might call me "Dont" or "dead inside" so you can just skim the usernames.
