For me it would be cranberry sauce and hot cross buns.

Am I the only Christmas pud addict on here? I’d love to eat it every week (except I’d be a lot fatter than I am now .... !)

TheJoyOfSox · 25/03/2018 18:51

@Mabantomoonface. What cheese do you like that is only available for a limited season? I’m genuinely curious now.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 25/03/2018 18:52

Wild garlic

dingit · 25/03/2018 18:58

Chocolate hot cross buns, particularly m&s ones with salted caramel.

Katedotness1963 · 25/03/2018 19:07

Affordable mangoes, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.

Christmas cake.

Ghluwein.

SingaSong12 · 25/03/2018 19:12

Alfonso or other Indian/Pakistani mango.

Strawberries- I love them and I'm finding it hard not to buy them now, but strawberries force ripened in the U.K. or flown thousands of miles is ridiculous - there shouldn't be British strawberries at Christmas.

Shockers · 25/03/2018 19:13

I love that food is seasonal. Someone gave me strawberries at Christmas and they were tasteless and dry. I love the anticipation of asparagus, or rhubarb, or sprouts!

I’m growing my own veg this year, so the anticipation will be even greater!

lind01 · 25/03/2018 19:44

I don't think there are many foods you can't get all year round if you know were to shop locally or online. However, I really think we should all try to eat seasonal food whenever possible because that's the way nature intended it. The challenge is to know what foods are in season because the shops are packed with the same stuff all year round.

wolfmom · 25/03/2018 19:51

Lebkuchen, stollen, British strawberries and Scottish raspberries.

himalayansalt · 25/03/2018 22:10

Thanks for pointing out the more than obvious lind01. I don't think many people on this thread realised Hmm.

HolidayHelpPlease · 25/03/2018 22:14

Gluten free pigs in blankets. Usually only seen at Christmas and Easter!

OopsPardonMrsArden · 25/03/2018 22:16

Blood oranges. New garlic.

Buscake · 25/03/2018 22:19

I would say M&S Christmas sandwich, but it lives on in the form of turkey feast as I recently discovered!

roses2 · 25/03/2018 22:28

I wish supermarkets would only sell seasonal produce and not artificially lamp grown fruit and veg. I bet food would be a lot tastier.

Hillarious · 25/03/2018 22:35

The thing about seasonal food is you buy them all the time when they're in season until you get totally fed up with them and don't want to eat any more . . . until the following year. Looking forward to English strawberries and asparagus making an appearance in the not too distant future.

Babybearsporij · 25/03/2018 22:37

Satsumas. They're the only orange type fruit that I like and that don't give me heartburn.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 25/03/2018 22:38

Strawberries, raspberries and cherries. I saw some British strawberries in M & S yesterday - what sun have those poor buggers seen?

WobblyBanana · 25/03/2018 22:40

Pomelos - they only seem to be sold in winter and I love them!

drigon · 26/03/2018 03:20

Yes, another one for satsumas! I also love British plums like Opal and Victoria and Autumn Royal black(ish) grapes.

BouncyFlouncy · 26/03/2018 12:08

Forgive me for not having rtft yet, but OP hot cross buns are available all year round at Tesco.

FML2017 · 26/03/2018 12:20

Some of the things mentioned here (creme eggs) are always available.. where do you live??

Kizzibel · 26/03/2018 14:28

lychee and rhubarb, I only seem to want them when I can't get them

ToastyFingers · 26/03/2018 15:00

Brandy butter.

Ski4130 · 26/03/2018 15:13

Stollen.

Lubyloo · 26/03/2018 16:21

Some of the things people want are easy to make: hot cross buns, bread sauce, brandy butter, Simnel cake, hot cross buns etc. You could have them year round!
