For me it would be cranberry sauce and hot cross buns.

OP posts:

bluebells1 · 23/03/2018 23:48

Proper British Cherries. Oh the Joy!!! And also proper somerset strawberries. I have eaten strawberries from the whole fucking country and somerset grown ones are the best ever.

Lubyloo · 23/03/2018 23:49

Yes to those saying satsumas! I hate clementines and easy peelers.

Welshmaenad · 23/03/2018 23:52

Flavorking plums.

MabantoMoonface · 23/03/2018 23:53

Cornish pasties

timtam23 · 23/03/2018 23:58

I completely agree with everyone saying satsumas and lebkuchen. Also the Aldi mince pies with the frangipane topping. And British cherries.

RamblinRosie · 24/03/2018 00:34

Another panettone here, I have an "emergency" one stashed away!

All soft fruit, they never taste of anything out of season.

Damsons, it's hard enough to get them in season.

Parsnips.

Pheasant and grouse.

Toby If you make your own cranberry sauce (use the Delia recipe but add a bit more sugar) it keeps really well, cranberries contain a natural preservative, one batch makes 3 jars and lasts me a year.

thenightsky cranberries freeze really well.

chirpy bread sauce is dead easy to make, I do it at least once a month, I couldn't eat roast chicken without it.

hellokittymania · 24/03/2018 00:49

In Greece, grapes. In Vietnam, I don't know how you spell it in English but it's a really small green fruit. Saboche?? In the UK, I don't really know. Everything always seems to be available somewhere, at least in London.

hellokittymania · 24/03/2018 00:50

Oh yeah, another great Kwon, melomakarona, The biscuit like things you can buy at Christmas. The bakery near where I stay even do chocolate ones.

Mum2OneTeen · 24/03/2018 01:01

80sMum · 24/03/2018 01:08

Cob nuts and wet walnuts.

Mum2OneTeen · 24/03/2018 01:13

Ooh, don't know how I forgot this: Sweet Corn (on the cob)

MrsFezziwig · 24/03/2018 01:19

Iced mince pies, although to look on the bright side if they were I would probably weigh twice as much Blush.

Is cranberry sauce not available all year round? On the other hand, I only see hot cross buns at Easter (or rather several weeks before & after, like Easter eggs).

LostPlatypus · 24/03/2018 01:23

Fresh runner beans (proper ones from the garden not the crappy stringy supermarket ones); Lebkuchen; hot cross buns (must learn to make them) and raspberries.

Mangoes are amazing though I agree with whoever posted that (sorry - on mobile so can't scroll up). Fresh mango and raspberries together is heavenly.

PhilODox · 24/03/2018 01:46

Rhubarb
Satsumas
Cherries

toomuchtooold · 24/03/2018 06:48

Peas! Although when you can get peas, strawberries and chestnuts all in Tesco's in the same week, it's like a harbinger of the end of days or something. It's not right!

SquatBetty · 24/03/2018 06:52

Rhubarb

IHateYourCarpet · 24/03/2018 06:53

Gooseberries. Actually, this year, I couldn't find ANY on all of Oxfordshire and Wiltshire Angry and pregnancy drove me to every possible shop ...

T2517 · 24/03/2018 07:00

Easter eggs! I love the thin chocolate and the thick bit as it curves round

Twooter · 24/03/2018 07:02

Cream eggs, even with the new chocolate.

Clandestino · 24/03/2018 07:06

@WishingOnABar they're very easy to make.

WutheringFrights · 24/03/2018 07:08

@WishingOnABar @iklboo I own a farm shop and one my suppliers accidental doubled my order of Lebkuchen at Christmas.
If you live anywhere near Somerset I'm selling them with 20% off just to get rid of the overload!!!! 😁
