(Lighthearted) to think if we have another unbearable summer like last year

I should be able to demand baby be brought on early. Fwiw I'm due 7th September and live in the south east where it hit full on melting temperatures last year for long periods of time. I hate the heat. I am dreading this summer and being a beached whale.

I've told DH of my cunning strategy to insist on an early baby if I can't cope he's not impressed and says he'll just invest in a whale sized paddling pool for the garden for me.

Who is bu here? (Clearly I am but seriously I'm already stressed about the summer and need coping strategies!)

I had my first DS in Aug 2003 and it was so hot all summer, ds2 in June 2005, was hot Jun to sept, dd June 2009 again hot Jun to sept. Last year was freezing!

@delatron

I can't find any tons of pages saying 2017 was the coldest summer at ALL. But plenty saying it was a hot one. As I said, where are your sources? What pages???

Most people here are saying it was a hot summer. You have obviously got the wrong year!

The poster just before you says it was freezing 😂. I've quoted the official met office summary? Not good enough though?
Half of this thread have agreed (as the weather stats will back up) that from mid July onwards the weather was not good. It was cooler than average (and average in this summer is not great) and the stats show it was also wetter than average. Another poster has also quoted this statistic.

You are remembering the few hot weeks in June which does not make up due the rubbish following 8 weeks when the kids were off. Maybe I dreamed my cold, wet summer uk holiday?

Oh no because I can check back in what the weather was and see!

And even the met office (you know the official body rather than your 'memory). Admit that the few weeks of heat we had in June 'skewed' the figures slightly. I record the weather as part of my job so I actually do have evidence of the temps and weather last year and the weather turned from 13th July.

My DS was born at end of Aug (many years ago!) and I'm not brilliant with heat (then or now!), but we got a freestanding a/c unit (on eBay not expensive) and it's brilliant. Somewhere that is s cool haven to have a doze, just rest and of course lovely for sleeping at night.

We had some very hot weeks last summer. Not all the time, but there were some days and nights that were unbearable in London! Because of the noise I can’t sleep with my windows open.

I got into the habit of sticking a duvet cover in the quick wash every evening before bed and sleeping with that. A damp sheet is beautifully cool, especially if you have a fan, through in those temperatures it was bone dry by morning!
