I have seen this a few times in Facebook.

AIBU to ask your opinion? Has anyone done it.

Something about it makes me uncomfortable.

Another disappointed Balonz fab here!

GoldenHefalump · 23/03/2018 19:04

Ds3 is crawling now so too old to do this safely anymore. I'm gutted I didn't see it a few months back tbh, I definitely would have tried it.

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 23/03/2018 19:05

Erm what like stick a load of balloons on the baby then go off Down the pub?! Wouldn’t those people do that anyway, regardless of balloon entertainment?

cherish123 · 23/03/2018 19:08

Never seen it before. Could be unsafe.

What I find weird is when people put bows on babies. Babies must find it really irritating. It looks a bit twee and, dare I say, common.

GnotherGnu · 23/03/2018 19:09

How would anyone abuse it? And what does a sitter have to do with it?

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 23/03/2018 19:10

I assume means as in “using the TV as a baby sitter”

As most of us do

TheFirstMrsDV · 23/03/2018 19:11

A baby of that age has a very limited attention span. No matter how much they enjoy balloons they won't do it for very long.
Are you concerned about people abusing baby gyms, teddy bears and peek a boo too?

If there was going to be mass balloon abuse it would have happened already.

My DD would be 26 and I used to do this with her.

Even for a Friday this is a weird thread.

himalayansalt · 23/03/2018 19:14

I just hate headbands on baby girls. I have a very high tolerance/more or less anything goes attitude but I absolutely loathe those stupid fucking bows.

Trinity101 · 23/03/2018 19:16

Does it work with cats?
GrinGrinGrin

Makingworkwork · 23/03/2018 19:16

Witchend that sounds fun. I am imagining a number of people dressed up engaging in drunken team building games but one that you actually want to do.

The baby in photo is obviously being supervised, at least by the person taking the photo.

It looks fun and similar to those musical toys that you put on ankles and wrists. Obviously it would need to be supervised just liked everything at that age.

Your spelling made me uncomfortable Wink

NerrSnerr · 23/03/2018 19:20

Balloons as a sitter? How does this work? I'd love a couple of hours in the pub

badg3r · 23/03/2018 19:21

Does it work with cats?
I would highly advise against attaching helium-filled cats to your baby.

Rachie1973 · 23/03/2018 19:25

Balls of screwed up sellotape were our guilty 'lets laugh at the kids' pleasure.

Try it lol

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 23/03/2018 19:29

And that fire blanket stuff. Stay and play had some, they gave us a piece to take home, it's like catnip for babies. Babynip, if you will.

64BooLane · 23/03/2018 19:32

I thought of the Sean/Daniel/Balonz thread too.

MustShowDH · 23/03/2018 19:33

Is this the newest photo fad like the chav cake smash?

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 23/03/2018 19:34

Balloons as a baby sitter? Grin

If you mean using some balloons to keep your baby quiet for 5 minutes then why not? It's probably quite a fun stimulating activity.

Just don't do it next to a bramble bush if there's a stiff breeze.

MammaTJ · 23/03/2018 19:34

Your line of work is abusing balloons as a sitter?

Oooooo kaaay then!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 23/03/2018 19:35

Ah ha ha Helium filled cats Grin

Elizanotlittle · 23/03/2018 19:35

I guess and reading some of the comments on Facebook there is potential to wrap strings around the neck or the balloon pops and the baby swallow it. Possible if unsupervised for a couple of minutes.

Guess I am being unreasonable and probably a little paranoid.

OP posts:
Wallabaloo · 23/03/2018 19:35

Risk of entanglement or string digging in. Ok for close supervision but never unattended.

Lightsong · 23/03/2018 19:35

Another one looking for Balonz, sorry 😁

Elizanotlittle · 23/03/2018 19:37

I don't know why but the milk propping popped into my head. A situation like that awful story.

64BooLane · 23/03/2018 19:37

Should Balonz be in Classics? A lot of us seem to like it Grin
