I have seen this a few times in Facebook.

AIBU to ask your opinion? Has anyone done it.

Something about it makes me uncomfortable.

It closely supervised and not tied tightly around their wrists / ankles I don't see the problem.

I think it looks odd, so it isn't something I would do. However, as long as the baby is supervised I think it's ok. Are you concerned the baby might float away, like the house in Up?Grin

It's strange, I have not seen it before but it doesn't make me feel uncomfortable. It probably would if I saw a baby floating past my window though.

OP as long as it's well supervised I don't see the issue. The baby seems to love it. I'd do it with DD if I could be bothered to sort the helium.

A friend of mine did this because she saw it online. Apparently her daughter loved it and was having a lot of fun giggling etc. Obviously she was not left alone with the balloons. I can’t see the problem

Providing baby isn’t left like that unsupervised, I can’t see the issue.

I think shoving a baby like this into a cot and it alone is bad.

I think sitting on a bed with a,baby like this closely supervising them is fine

I think I guess I just look at worse case scenario like some people will abuse it as a sitter.

Think it's my line of work.

Of course supervised closely- no problem

That balonz thread is an absolute classic.

Don't see any issues with babies and balloons so long as supervised. The babies seem to be having a blast.

It's not that new a thing. I can remember my mum carefully tying a helium balloon round my youngest sister's wrist at some shindig or other - might have been the Silver Jubilee (shows age) so she could wave it about a bit in her pram.

And Balonz remains one of my favourite ever threads!

On the basis that at a wedding we tried floating a teaspoon and it took about 20 balloons, then I think the baby's pretty safe with 4balloons.

i saw it and took myself off to clinton's the next day for 4 helium balloons, hoping to be able to watch a bit of telly in peace that afternoon while my 7 month DD was endlessly entertained by the balloons.. safe to say she was NOT impressed and stared in confusion for 2 minutes then started demanding my attention as usualGrin

I done it to my daughter, loosely tied it's fine and obviously supervise at all times but she loved it :)
