Hi there. Not sure if this is the right place but I just want as many people in Bury to be aware of this but there is a company advertising for PPI call centre jobs at somewhere called 'The Hub' in the Millgate. However, I went for an interview with them last Friday and they told me if successful I would start Monday BUT it was just TWO days training and THREE days on the phones and if at the end of the week they did not feel you were up to the role then you would be dismissed AND NOT BE PAID!!! I want as many people to be aware as possible so am sharing it as much as I can.

It would seem after talking a LOT of people have not been successful with this company after a week and are dismissed without pay!

To dodge the law, it seems they are asking new starters to sign a form to say they agree to getting ZERO PAY if they fail to 'make the grade'.

A pathetic TWO days of 'training' is purposely setting people up to fall! A reputable company would give you at the very least one week! This company it seems are purposely aiming that very few make the grade but get a few days of free labour in the process.

We're local to Bury as well, and this has been all over my Facebook pages, so I don't think it'll stand much longer.

But, yes, it is disgusting. I've flung it at my MP already, but she's a bit useless so I'm not expecting much.

0 hrs and work ex wo pay should be outlawed, its adding to the families experiencing poverty. Decent days work for a decent days pay that's what was the promised, should be the nor. Any other business working in that shameful way should be named shamed and fined.

I would also question the legality of this.

It seems like they are exploiting vulnerable people for free labour, knowing full well that they won't take them on.

Contact your mp and perhaps citizens advice to question the legal side? Are you a member of a union?

Gosh this sounds like domething that happened to me years ago. A man opened a new grocery store in town the old one was just across the road. I with a friend asked for a summer job and we were both accepted but after working for about 4 hours each on the first morning we were told that we were not neededHmm and were not given any money no not a bean. When my mother found out she met him on the street and he got a piece of her mindAngry bet he was sorry after that telling off. I should know. Mind you the shop was stocked for a few months before opening and I remember someone returning a packet of biscuits for being soft on the first day and also it did not stay open very long. But we got a job a few weeks later working in a guest house which paid well along with bed and board. So we had the last laugh
