To say that a staycation is NOT a holiday in the UK??

A staycation is where you sleep in your OWN home but take time off work and go on lots of day trips etc

Going elsewhere in the uk and staying in a cottage/caravan/hotel is an ACTUAL HOLIDAY!!!!!!

...That’s all, as you were.

*[Message from MNHQ: Hey OP, we've edited the title of your thread, as requested. Though we'd have to say that the original 'starvation' was more amusing...] Smile

OP posts:
KeepServingTheDrinks · 22/03/2018 19:59

slightly misleading title there, OP. Grin

frecklemcspeckles · 22/03/2018 19:59

Starvation is definitely not a holiday anywhere I'd have to say Wink

Sidge · 22/03/2018 19:59

Starvation is definitely not a holiday.

It’s no fun at all 😉

MrMagnoliasBoot · 22/03/2018 19:59

Starving yourself is the worst hoilday Grin

Dangerousmonkey · 22/03/2018 20:00

Grin someone is being wrong on the internet or indeed real life. Brew you are not being unreasonable. Now i shall start running and say ....
But starvation isn't a holiday for anyone Wink

Kittykatmacbill · 22/03/2018 20:00

I think a stayification is only own home? Not a caravan holiday?

Eating is normally suggested...

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 22/03/2018 20:01

Is that all inclusive starvation?

LynetteScavo · 22/03/2018 20:01

I'm with you OP... Chris Evans is really bad for this

troodiedoo · 22/03/2018 20:02

Is that you Scarlett Moffat?

AverageSnowflake · 22/03/2018 20:03
Confused
insancerre · 22/03/2018 20:06

Wasn't that a song by the dead Kennedys?

SilverySurfer · 22/03/2018 20:07

So eating is optional?

BendyLikeBeckham · 22/03/2018 20:07

It would be the only holiday I've ever returned from lighter than when I left home...

Grin
AnachronisticCorpse · 22/03/2018 20:14

Well I’ve heard it’s no picnic.

HesterShaw · 22/03/2018 20:16

I'm with you OP. A staycation is when you "stay" at home, in your own house, or possibly at the home of a relative. The clue is in the name.

A holiday is when you go away from home even if it's in the next county.

nocoolnamesleft · 22/03/2018 20:17

I thought this might be about a weight loss health farm?

upsideup · 22/03/2018 20:18

Ignoring the title.
So a staycation is just living in your house and not going to work? I would consider a staycation going away somewhere local.

halfwitpicker · 22/03/2018 20:18

What does she actually mean?

Like a retreat?

gamerchick · 22/03/2018 20:20

Eh! I read starvation in the title and it doesn’t say that now!

No starvation is definitely not a holiday but I quite like to stay at home and do things while off work. It nice being in your own bed.

WhiteRabbitWhiteRabbit · 22/03/2018 20:20

Growing up we called it a holiday to Ourgate.

Tinkobell · 22/03/2018 20:21

Miranda Hart once went and stayed at a chintzy motel in her home town.....just to enjoy the complimentary shortbreads and youthful room service .....so what would that be? Staycation or micro-haul holiday? 🤔

PutUpWithRain · 22/03/2018 20:21

Starvation is a holiday though. You're getting away from food.

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 22/03/2018 20:23

I hate that word staycation, not starvation
You are just staying home, why the need for another fancier word for it?

MacaroniPenguin · 22/03/2018 20:24

Not what I thought this would be when I clicked on "starvation".

But yes, totally, utterly and completely. Known as a "holiday at home" in our house, and means literally staying in our house.

IHaveBrilloHair · 22/03/2018 20:26

It's been edited, but I'm still really laughing at the original title.
Um yes, no, who knows
