@bijoubijou wow. I'm in shock at your comment. There's a difference between not liking what someone does and choosing to not follow them than to sit on a public forum and write disgusting hurtful comments about them that could really upset them. Your comment just then was so wrong on so many levels. I sure as hell hope karma doesn't come back to bite you one day. So, so unnecessarily harsh.

greengrass1234 · 26/03/2018 21:52

The thing I most want to comment on these people's feeds is 'well done for marrying a rich bloke'

Pretty sure most of us could blog, do yoga, Instagram our yoga, continually redecorate and have kids close together if we didn't have to pay bills and go to work

Badmotherpukka · 26/03/2018 21:55

@Plasticgold it’s good to have balance, which is why I’m here (to anyone wondering). It does give you a false sense of security getting only positive traffic. I’m not going to be doing it for much longer as it stands - selling bog roll just isn’t the career high I imagined.

The house in the home that made me is very dull.

DaisyDaisy907 · 26/03/2018 22:02

@bijoubijou May I ask how you know she's a horrible person? Are you a personal friend of hers or do you just know her from watching her through a screen? I hate to repeat what's been said many times on this thread, but if you don't like what you see, if you unfollow you don't have to see it again. I think that's the best thing to do rather than to say really nasty things about them on the internet.

Mumofkids · 26/03/2018 22:09

I can't help but think that the huge number of adoring fandom just drown out any negativity that individual business accounts just don't really want to hear. It's very possible to protect your children. Fearne Cotton (who drives me up the wall telling us how to be happy, calm, what to cook, designs clothes for boots, make up ranges, there is literally nothing she doesn't do) but has never featured her kids faces and you don't know where they go to school etc. Even selfish mother featured her sons new school with book bags with school logo to be seen. Completely unnecessary.
What's the swipe up thing?

@bijoubijou definitely not Charlotte but I think you should stop commenting seeing as two of your last comments have been deleted. Not just me who finds them offensive.

IsThisAWindUp · 26/03/2018 22:14

Swipe up is used on Stories so you can go straight from something featured in a story to the website to order it. Many bloggers use an affiliate link so that they earn money for everyone who purchases via that link - or indeed anything from that shop for up to the next 90 days in some cases. I think affiliate links are only available to certain bloggers and not all use them (indeed there is nothing compelling them to use an affiliate link, other than the desire to earn more money from their followers). DMBL40 said on the bloggers and brands thread that she doesn't use them. The ASA require affiliate links to be disclosed as ADs but this is rarely done.

cannotchange · 26/03/2018 22:14

Green grass - too true !

There are a lot of men behind the scenes slogging away to bankroll their entitled wives/partners enabling them to waft about all day doing mostly fuckall.

And not even doing the one job of a being a parent very well either - one I know personally very much springs to mind

HebeMumsnet · 26/03/2018 22:16

Evening all. We just wanted to pop by with a reminder of our talk guidelines.

We're all for freedom of speech and the airing of opinions but we will delete posts that we feel are personal attacks, not in the spirit of the site, or are just plain mean.

If we end up with a thread that's like Swiss cheese as a result, we will have to zap the entire thing.

Thanks.

3asAbird · 26/03/2018 22:18

Mrs m latest Insta is new look haul and shirt says swipe up I haventboressedvthat button as assume takes me to new look site and it's an affiliate link so she gets money but she's not disclosing it as an ad.
I cant remember her shopping in new look before.

Mumofkids · 26/03/2018 22:28

Ahh I didn't realise they earned money from swipe up. I rarely do it as it's annoying.

Babaloo88 · 26/03/2018 22:31

It’s literally a swipe? Then money in the bank? What happens if the person who swipes doesn’t actually buy anything? They still get business?

IsThisAWindUp · 26/03/2018 22:35

No, they just get a cut of the sale. The affiliate provider takes their cut as well. So if something sells for £100, the brand may get £90, the affiliate provider £5 and the blogger £5, depending on how the affiliate programme works (the %s vary I am just using these to illustrate). The affiliate distributes money periodically to bloggers. Nothing gets paid if no sale is made and the price to you as consumer doesn't change which is why bloggers feel a bit aggrieved at having to disclose the fact they working for brands, is my understanding.

IsThisAWindUp · 26/03/2018 22:39

But when you swipe through the link it places a cookie on your computer which tracks any visits you make to the website. So if you don't like the blogger's dress on their swipe up link, but revisit the same site a few weeks later and find a nice coat that you do like, and purchase it, well then the blogger will get some commission on the coat if the cookie is still on your computer. Even though you didn't buy it through their recommendation.

HeedMove · 26/03/2018 22:43

Genuinely use to like Mrs Meldrum as she was really relatable as we both had husbands who worked away.

Can't believe he gave up his job seems absolutely crazy that's not going to last forever. Just constant posts about bloody gin,ads and freebies and trying to blag stuff like the Neilson holiday. Watched tonights vlog and it will be the last for me..I suspect she's seen this thread where people were saying she was beige and boring as tonight vlogs apparently "the funniest day every just her tipsy twittering on a load of pish then loads of comments about how funny it was. It really wasn't 😂

I think it's just annoying as you start to follow someone as they are relatable then they totally change and start trying to sell you shite non stop that they likely never used before like bloody zoflora!!

Thatsnotmycat · 26/03/2018 22:45

I find this topic really interesting, do you know if any of the instamums have been reported to the ASA given that there is a lot of gifting taking place that isn’t be acknowledged formally or would the ASA not be interested. What’s also telling is that actually a lot of them use insta stories so they the gifting posts disappear quite quickly, maybe they use this method to get around the regs? Tbh I like following the instamums but agree that the level of subliminal advertising is a bit out of control.

mammyoftwo · 26/03/2018 22:47

Go on cannot.....spill!!......

Mumofkids · 26/03/2018 22:51

Hahaha I have actually recently bought zoflora 🙈 That is the crux of the problem, they start selling out, believe they are famous and are generally unbearable. I am fairly shocked at how bad some of them are. The stuff they are prepared to sell and the freebies. The children in the middle of it. Just gross.

Kimmumof3 · 26/03/2018 22:53

I think he is 35

iow86 · 26/03/2018 22:57

What.. Isn't he 32??

Mumofkids · 26/03/2018 22:57

Pampers pull ups really annoyed me. Use your platform to do some good. Cigarettes andcalpol is promoting some really good wipes and nappies that are much more environmentally friendly. She does lots of collaborations and winning things and seems really normal.

Kimmumof3 · 26/03/2018 23:02

Yea use her platform to do some good, like charity work for homeless people.
