Interested to read this in the Guardian today

I really can't work out how to see stories. The online instructions say to tap the profile photo but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

HouseHelpSOS · 25/03/2018 18:11

Tap the circular profile photo on the page

Mumofkids · 25/03/2018 18:13

I did think 'aren't they a bit young for minieggs' 🤣🤣🤣

AlistairAppletonssexyscarf · 25/03/2018 18:14

Yes, I do that and nothing happens.

Probably for the best.

PavlovaPrincess · 25/03/2018 18:14

I think that sometimes they get carried away and over share. Anyone remember that time FOD instagrammed one of the kids being taken to hospital in an ambulance? Hmm

Fruitbowl2 · 25/03/2018 18:14

Resolutely done with looking at any of these folks' accounts anymore. Wasn't following anyway...

I'm still looking any recommendations of #noAD accounts 👍🏻 We can be positive on this thread 😀

HouseHelpSOS · 25/03/2018 18:18

This account is lovely. I have multiples and find it interesting and sweet. I don't recall many ads other than a thing they did with Sainsbury's after her local store made her a triplet trolley so she could take them food shopping by herself when needed! She didn't plug it all over her page but I saw it on theirs.

shesakeeper if they are businesses where are their complaints department. Oh it's here 👊🏻😏

Mrsdoubleskulls · 25/03/2018 18:32

I actually thought FOD was really funny today. The clocks, the 12 minutes at the beach and the bribery. Even with the dancing, I felt he was on form.

Mrsdoubleskulls · 25/03/2018 18:40

I am just catching up on Stories and have noticed that ED is now using the label "affiliate link" to her swipe ups (links). She and DMBL really are getting it right with regard to transparency.

LyndaSnellsFeet · 25/03/2018 18:41

Who's ED?!

Mumofkids · 25/03/2018 18:44

You thought the dancing was on form? Dear god.
At least he didn't do his funny quip followed by slightly psychotic comment. I'm pretty sure he's just trying to mortify MOD for going 🤣

Mrsdoubleskulls · 25/03/2018 18:52

You thought the dancing was on form? Dear god.

Ha ha ha. You haven't seen my husband attempting to dance. In comparison, Simon is like Michael Flatley, Lord of the Dance.

Mrsdoubleskulls · 25/03/2018 18:58

Who's ED?!

Erica Davies.

WhatIfYourArmBursts · 25/03/2018 19:09

Yes well done ED. For any other bloggers that may be reading this thread, here’s a useful infographic issued by the ASA last year 😫 which explains why all bloggers should be doing the same for their affiliate links. You’re welcome.

Foxfairytwins and Claire Witt are really good on instagram.

Fruitbowl2 · 25/03/2018 19:51

www.asa.org.uk/news/online-influencers-is-it-an-ad.html

August 2017 content. It makes it quite clear a gift should also be marked #ad

shesakeeper · 25/03/2018 19:56

£330 a night for MoD's latest #freeholiday. Not including flights.

Different. Planet.

@Badmotherpukka I think the quality of content is an issue. I’m more than happy for you to flog brands to me because your posts are beautifully written and, visually, your account looks awesome. You obviously choose your ads carefully, too.

Most Instamums rely on their children to sell their wares and that really irks me. Some also blatantly beg for freebies, “Ooh, my washing machine has broken down - what a pickle!” or “I’m just so confused about where to go on holiday... any ideas?” It’s gross.

I take your point though, it would be easier to unfollow and I have with most.

faceandpalm · 25/03/2018 20:03

@shesakeeper Do you remember when she was asking for long-haul holiday ideas? I remember St. Lucia being an option posted on her stories. A wish list for advertisers to get in touch. Maybe she didn’t mean for that but I’m getting cynical in my old age.

Babaloo88 · 25/03/2018 20:09

Oh mod definitely ‘begged’ for this holiday. Only turning on her direct messages when she needs “advice”but not just every day stories. So suspicious...

PavlovaPrincess · 25/03/2018 20:09

Yeah, MOD is working flat out to 'create' that 'content', eh?

Good on her, but I think that's the last straw for me, I'm afraid. I'm going to do what everyone's suggested and unfollow. Friends and families holiday photos bore me to tears, let alone a random on the Internet.

Betsybun · 25/03/2018 20:09

The thing is with a TV add with a famous person you know they're acting for that company, not making out that they truly believe how wonderful it is. You just see that ad, not other parts of that persons life.

The irritating thing about instagram ads is that it's not always obvious that it's an ad. They start off with some made up story of how they were really struggling with xyz and then I found this that is amazing and really helps blah blah blah. No you didn't, you got paid to do an ad and you've made that story up. Do you really think it's amazing? Would you buy it if it wasn't sent to you? It does often feel like you're being deceived.

Fruitbowl2 · 25/03/2018 20:19

betsybun we have all been duped for a long time, and well after 'influencers' had the guidelines from ASA. Something paid, a perk or a gift should be made clear as an #ad Before we read it.

shesakeeper · 25/03/2018 20:26

You just know those bags featuring prominently in the latest #freeholiday post are freebies too...
