In court next month.

I would say if guilty a custodial sentence is highly probable

highly unlikely actually

Judges can't just make up punishments to suit themselves, there are guidelines to follow. Being famous can't be used as a reason to hold someone as an 'example'. It would be grossly unfair and completely opposite to what the court is supposed to uphold.

Chances are he'll get a ban, 3-11 points, and a hefty fine. His offence won't come close to 'so serious'

What is the maximum penalty for driving under the influence?
If the Court takes the view that an offence is "so serious" that it can only be adequately punished by way of a prison sentence, then the Defendant can be sent to prison, even on the first offence. Clearly, "so serious" will depend upon the circumstances of the incident and the alcohol reading. Custodial sentences would normally be considered at readings of 116 ug breath / 265 mg of blood or 355 mg of urine.

Lisa and Stavros Flatly!?

Rumours that Dec is being comforted by DJ Talent are as yet unconfirmed.....

FUNNY!
(....maybe the situation was made worse cos he lost his keys and his mobile phone....)

MillieMoosMam · 21/03/2018 21:57

(...at the station...)

MorningsEleven · 21/03/2018 22:03

@MissMary0fSweden

My mind is blown. Not surprised about DJ Talent- there was always chemistry.

I feel for Lisa, she looks like she's the weight of the world on her shoulders.

Mydoghatesthebath · 21/03/2018 22:17

Of course he won’t get a custodial sentence. Ffs the ignorance. Judges can’t make examples of people they have to abide by the law.

No one was killed or injured. Thankfully! He will get a community service or more likely a ban and a fine.

Get s bloody grip!

McTufty · 21/03/2018 22:31

@stickyplum77 yes she is from Deuce!

This is just a shit situation all round and I am so pleased the little girl is ok.

raisedbyguineapigs · 21/03/2018 22:44

Diva I didnt realise that. I thought the rumour was that friends of the woman he was with called the police so he'd be caught with her. Fancy being a multi millionnaire and not getting your brake lights fixed?? irrelevant alert

SoupDragon · 22/03/2018 07:28

Fancy being a multi millionnaire and not getting your brake lights fixed??

How often do you look at your own brake lights to see if they work?

OliviaStabler · 22/03/2018 07:38

I assume the judge will take into account a number of factors; how over the limit he was, what was the damage done to the cars and their passengers, when did he have his last drink before driving etc.

ChaosNeverRains · 22/03/2018 07:45

I don’t think that he should be treated any differently because of being in the public eye.

I have absolutely no sympathy or time for drink drivers though and am of the belief that drink driving should carry a lifetime driving ban. You drink and drive, then you never drive again as far as I’m concerned.

I believe drink driving has been more prominently in the news of late anyway because of a driver who left the scene of an accident recently and by the time the authorities caught up with them the alcohol had left their system and all they could be charged with was leaving the scene of an accident or some such even though there had been fatalities. Sad.

I’m not sure why anyone is focusing on his wife though? She’s his ex, they’ve been separated for months so not really sure why this should even involve her. Imagine if someone posted on here that their ex had been done for drink driving people would just be saying they should be glad he’s their ex and to forget about it.

All this sadness and needing to be comforted on her part seems a bit OTT.

bellabasset · 22/03/2018 08:20

Ant is ill, and clearly should not have returned to work given the intense media scrutiny he attracts. There is a valid argument for licences to be suspended for anyone being treated for addictions. Part of his illness could well be a lack of responsibility, irritability and I doubt his mental capacity to drive etc. His licence should be rescinded for at least 3 years and then be allowed to retake his test once he is just to be over his addiction. Thank heavens no-one was seriously hurt this time, but the picture of the other driver's wife showed her with a very nasty split lip.

I wish the press would leave his wife alone, she is being hounded and photographed at a time when she is coming to terms with the break up of her marriage to someone she has been with for 20 plus years. Putting unflattering pictures of her in the paper is a no no.

IanRushesInadequateFlushes · 22/03/2018 08:44

Chaos - but people DON'T leave her alone. She's constantly the subject of articles and comments online. And she's just been through years of infertility with Ant, which must be soul destroying for her.

I've actually got more sympathy for her than for him. He might have demons and need help, but he has a lot of resources to get that help, and he made a terrible selfish decision.

Gottagetmoving · 22/03/2018 11:21

Of course the judge will take other factors into account.
I doubt he would get a custodial sentence under the circumstances, meanwhile, people with no mental health conditions choose to text and use mobiles whilst driving and think they are in full control of their vehicle...and don't get sent to prison.
Some of those are disgusted with drink drivers but think they are ok.

raisedbyguineapigs · 22/03/2018 18:48

I agree Ian. Poor Ant might have to give his wife of 12 years half his fortune. Leaving him to scrape by on 30 million while she lives it up doing nothing but being chief makeup artist on some of the biggest shows on telly. Its really disgusting. Whoever shes married to, she is a private individual. The fact that his people are trying to throw her under a bus to salvage his reputation beggars belief.

MaggieTheCat1 · 22/03/2018 18:57

What do you mean finally? It's a pretty standard amount of time between arrest and charge. You seem to be implying he's had some special treatment? He hasn't.

And no he won't go to prison. Not sure why people would be rubbing their hands over that idea.

And it might affect his career and it might not. The overwhelming majority of people convicted of drink driving don't lose their jobs (unless driving is essential).

ALongHardWinter · 22/03/2018 19:00

What's the betting that he'll employ that 'Mr. Loophole' lawyer (can't remember his name) that so many celebs use,to try to get him off the charges?

alreadytaken · 23/03/2018 08:41

if Ant had killed the girl and driven off he could have got just 61 days. If you would see that as unfair and want justice for your own 3 year please sign here petition.parliament.uk/petitions/208008
