Annoyed with neighbour.

I live in a gff neighbour has a 'device' outside their window (above my bedroom) which is basically like a clothes airer. Neighbour hangs washing out on this, and the washing hangs down into the view of my window! Currently neighbour has a bed sheet hanging down which is covering a large portion of my window. Aibu to not want to see neighbours washing hanging down into my window? I would take a picture but it would be identifying if they are on here. I've actually never seen one of these devices before and they are the only flat that has one. Anyway aibu to be annoyed and would this bother you. When it's windy like today it even bats against the window.

Why is it such an issue? It's your bedroom window, not your living room or kitchen. In what way does it affect you?

Beause it looks horrid. It's an eyesore. Would you like a big sheet covering more than half your window?
Anyway loving the suggestions, good idea to trap them in the windows! Grin

Just go and talk to them - show them the photo and say you are not happy gazing at their laundry. Ask them politely to stop.

You aren’t going to achieve anything by sitting and fuming to yourself or venting on here, and whilst the passive-aggressive stuff sounds like fun, the direct, grown-up approach is the most sensible.

Ellendegeneres · 22/03/2018 22:49

I think I remember reading that lions piss keeps cats off the lawn- I’m off to the zoo next week, want me to ask for a few bottles of the stuff for you to squirt liberally on the washing?

Only after you approach and show them the pic and ask them to dry their crap elsewhere of course. Wouldn’t want to be unkind now would I

ScreamingValenta · 22/03/2018 22:49

Adopt the household habits of our medieval ancestors - start using a chamber pot at home and hurl the contents out of the window from time to time (whenever the washing is hung out). If your neighbour complains, just tell her you've taken up LARPing.

IllustriouslyIllogical · 22/03/2018 22:52

Fart Spray? Spray milk on them? Brown Sharpie & add skidmarks?

Whenever you shave your legs etc just keep all the hairs in a jar of water & throw it over them.

Get your BF to wee in a jar & throw it over them....

Seriously - get imaginative & evil.............

Ah come on! Confused

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 22/03/2018 23:05

What have they said now you've spoken to them about it?

ReanimatedSGB · 22/03/2018 23:13

Don't start by being a shit about it. Tell them politely that their laundry is blocking your view and ask if they can find a way of avoiding this. If you listen to the ignorant twats on here and start damaging their belongings before you've even made them aware you're unhappy, you will stir up trouble for yourself and you will deserve it.

bluebell34567 · 22/03/2018 23:15

I cant believe how people can be so inconsiderate.
they must know it is in your view. with the batting you cant sleep either.

bluebell34567 · 22/03/2018 23:17

speak to them first politely, if it doesn't work speak to their landlord.

cdtaylornats · 22/03/2018 23:19

Put birdseed on your window ledge - while the birds are checking out the scene guess where they'll perch and crap.

Juells · 22/03/2018 23:23

the ignorant twats on here

I thought most of the advice was to speak to the neighbours and make them aware there was a problem. The ignorant twats appear to be the upstairs neighbours.

ConstantReminder · 22/03/2018 23:37

No way is having your window blocked by someone’s washing acceptable! Only morons would behave with so little consideration.
I’d show them the pictures and politely ask them to remove the line.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 22/03/2018 23:39

Assume stupidity before malice and you’re seldom wrong. Most things people do are through stupidity & thoughtlessness, not malice. Just talk to them.

They might not realise how low it hangs compared to your window or they might be the sort of people it wouldn’t bother, so it hasn’t occurred to them it might bother you.

This type of drying is common in many places around the world, they’re probably quite perplexed that the rest of you don’t do it.

MsMims · 22/03/2018 23:45

Are you going to speak to them OP? I can’t believe anyone would think that was okay. Ridiculous of them.

Dipitydoda · 22/03/2018 23:46

Eliza you live in the flat above don’t you? You recongised the sheets

Dipitydoda · 22/03/2018 23:49

And you knew it was her bedroom window 😂😂

minimalpatience · 22/03/2018 23:52

@Eliza9917 "In what way does it affect you?" Picture posted by op desks for itself.

shesalady · 23/03/2018 00:10

Grin sorry op but this made me giggle.

Backscratchesforever · 23/03/2018 01:41

The CF!!

Eliza does sound like she lives upstairs

Waffles80 · 23/03/2018 05:06

Are you going to speak to them OP?

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 23/03/2018 05:16

Honestly OP this is annoying you Hmm

I wish I had your troubles Brew

Daydreamdelay · 23/03/2018 05:19

Well personally I wouldn't care if it was my bedroom window but fair enough if it bothers you.
But instead of sitting on a thread with numerous ways of how to destroy their clothes why don't you, you know try talking to them and telling them it's blocking your window.

Passive aggressiveness will do fuck all.

sleep5 · 23/03/2018 05:47

Definitely speak to them then speak to the building owner.

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/03/2018 05:47

It would bother me. I’d consider it an invasion of my privacy. Your home should be completely private and not bothered by the outside world.
