Did Lorraine Kelly ever do real journalism?

am just wondering , her morning programme seems to be full of frothy nonsense and camp guys working with her, no substance or anything worth watching

I wonder if she ever feels like she can't go back to doing anything real or interesting now, its as if cos she lost weight all she knows about now is hairstyles and twirly skirts

Didn’t she once do a bikini to show older women can blah blah? Ugh, it was “really really” cringeworthy.

RoseWhiteTips · 22/03/2018 12:44

...do a bikini shot thing...

RoseWhiteTips · 22/03/2018 12:46

She really really shouldn’t have...

Well she looks better than I do in a bikini. I resemble a potato wrapped in string. Angry

she looks brilliant in a bikini, no denying that.

she's lost weight and toned up and she looks a million dollars...but it just seems all she can do is fluff now, a bit like Carol Voderman, though Lorraine has kept her dignity more than Carol.

It's odd they never borrow her to fill in for HW on This Morning, and she doesn't appear on Loose Women.
A few of them (like say, Ruth Langsford) are interchangeable on ITV daytime.

I saw Penny Smith on something the other day, I loved her. And Anthea Turner. But somehow LK has hung on in there when they haven't. Confused

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 22/03/2018 14:33

All the women on itv seem to morph into a homogenous simpering mass. The BBC breakfast presenters aren't as bad. I can't bear loose women or this morning.

Good gawd I'm grumpy Grin

YANBU.

I can't stand Lorraine Kelly, and I don't even know why. She is just so fiercely irritating. As has been said, she has an uber-cushy job, and she is not even there half the year! Apparently she has all the school holidays off, which is not unreasonable for a mother, but she has one child - a daughter - and she is TWENTY! So why she needs the school holidays off just eludes me.

I find it really patronising and infuriating that her silly show always has cookery and fashion sections, because that's all women are fucking interested in. Hmm

What about a section on how to maintain a car? Or a section on science? Or a section on how to run a business? Fucks me right off that it's always assumed that women only want to watch fashion shows and someone baking a prawn flan. I don't even watch it now, and prefer to put netflix on, where there are much more interesting and entertaining programmes, with a lot more substance.

'This Morning' is almost as bad, with the insufferable 'Schofe' and his sidekick 'Willy Holloughby.' With their daft 'take a break' type features, and more fucking fashion and cookery. And their bloody giggling sessions leave me cold. There are very few things more irritating than a couple - or small group of people - laughing and hollering at something you are not party to.

Going back to Lorraine, I prefer it when Christine Bleakley stands in for her. I quite like Christine.

She's done well for herself and she's good at fluff and positivity before Satan comes on for an hour with toothless fuckwits and DNA tests and then Holly and Pip turn up half scuttered and laugh a lot.

MissEliza · 22/03/2018 14:53

Yes I remember when she was a 'proper' reporter back in the 80s. I liked her then.
I have to give LK for inspiring me to get more active. After the morning school run, I'd sit down with a quick coffee and watch her before getting on with some housework. The programme has become so awful I've been going for long walks instead! My Fitbit is very happy with me. Thanks for driving me out of the house Lorraine Grin!

Sparklingbrook · 22/03/2018 15:04

I wonder how many people she has inspired to work out in their normal clothes prior to fancy shopping on the internet? Grin

Sparkling dd and I love impersonating her and her mate Kate when that advert is on. Oh and the jumping JD Williams advert! It makes us laugh anyway!
