To want to know what benefits are being claimed for my child

My partner and I share care of our daughter.
He won't tell me if he is still receiving child benefit or child tax credits. He was the one receiving it before we split up but I think his income now may have affected his eligibility.
I would be eligible and could use the money but what am I supposed to do? Put in a claim and wait for it to be turned down?

are you still together? Calling him your partner suggests so?

If you have sole care of the child then you should be claiming for that child or children.

Phone the tax credits office and ask for a claim form.

Only one person can claim the benefits ( child benefit and child tax credits) for your child so it must be the one who cares for her the most. If your individual incomes are low enough to claim working tax credits or universal credit ( depending on your area) then you could both individually claim that.
