To be annoyed when disable badge holders use parent and toddler spaces

Well i probably am being unreasonable but i find this more of a cheak than anything. Me and my dp and dd luckily found a parent and toddler parking space (quite rare that happens) so i was happy about that. When i was loading dd into pushchair, someone went leaving an empty space and straight in was a couple with a disabled badge even though there were normal spaces free too. When they got out of the car i said to them 'you know these spaces are for parents with babies and pushchairs'. They said to me all grumy 'there isn't any disabled spaces'. I asked if they had been downstairs as there is always spaces and they said no we haven't, we are fine here'.

I felt very annoyed because if i can't find a mother and child space, i find a normal space and wouldn't even consider parking in a disable spot for obvious reasons plus they all kick off at people who do so why should it be different here. This couple walked straight into the shop we were next to and thats when i realised it wasn't about finding a disabled spot for them, they just wanted to park right outside the store for their own selfish convinience meanwhile some parent is struggling in a normal space to get her kids out the car with a tiny gap.

I think the OP was insensitive in the way she posted but until the government and councils etc. crack down on disabled badge fraud (See this ) people are going to get peed off by this whole disabled parking thing and threads will keep appearing on MN. (And without meaning to inflame anybody, why do people with DB get free parking in pay and display places? What is the logic behind this?)

And I'm really grateful for M and B parking places but have never understood why they have to be near the shops. Surely the only point of the spaces is to give you extra ....space. If they were further away from shops I'm sure they'd be less likely to be used by other people and then we'd all be happy (or not )

misdee · 08/05/2007 16:44

can i swear yet?

gess · 08/05/2007 16:44

How can you tell whether someone parked dangerously on a bend is a blue badge holder. Negotiate the bend and check for the blue badge? Bizarre! It's mainly delicery vehicles I see in that sort of situation.

IcingOnTheCake · 08/05/2007 16:45

I think they should either get rid of the m&t spaces to save all argument or put them at the back of the carpark.

Go on, misdee. I've just mentioned brutal anal fisting on another thread, so a little justified swearword from you will do no harm, I'm sure

teanogue · 08/05/2007 16:47

Is this a wind-up?

coppertop · 08/05/2007 16:47

I'm PMSL at misdee's post about 'err not that i think about you and misdee at it'!

lou33 · 08/05/2007 16:48

anal fisting?

ooer missus

i was working out where it was pushed into him misdee, and what he had done to deserve it!

ThomCat · 08/05/2007 16:48

Gess - pmsl! Can't believe you used it first, had to be you! Look at the bloody troyhle you've caused me now woman! LOL!

IcingOnTheCake · 08/05/2007 16:49

Another point would be, if m&t parking didn't exsist OR it was at the back of the carpark, i am sure they would have parked in a normal space like they could have done. So whats the difference?

Have learned in the past Kitty doesn't listen. not worth the energy, but like a 'chat' about feminism with Xenua or religion woth DC.

Anyway she knows she chose to have 6, she's not stupid.

misdee · 08/05/2007 16:49

coppertop i pmsl when dh told me as well.

it was sooo much easier when he was i na wheelchair i have to say. he got out the wheelchair into his seat shut the door. i shoved the wheelchair in the boot and off we went.

not saying that is true of all disabled users though

misdee · 08/05/2007 16:50

icing the difference is YOU made it an issue with your comments.

IcingOnTheCake · 08/05/2007 16:50

MT its free coz they can't choose to walk, or catch the bus. They can't avoid the charge. Anyway many palces dont even give that concession any more

grannycrackers · 08/05/2007 16:52

thomcat - what's a troyhole? is it something to do with anal fisting?

trice · 08/05/2007 16:53

I thought the OP was a joke. It was wasn't it? Would you get cross if an old lady wanted your seat on a bus too?

Can I suggest that you buy a smaller car so that you can park in a normal parking place and still get the kids out.

misdee · 08/05/2007 16:57

oh did i get the go ahead to swear? anyone want to join me.
