sick of websites with their in your face advertising - yes i get that they need to have adverts, but seriously if your site has to get funding by bloody great adverts, then its a shit site

Exactly. They shouldn't be allowed to have more than a little banner somewhere on the page.

GrannyGrissle · 17/03/2018 21:00

YABU DD(4) Adores the dancing rabbits particularly the 'nuddy bum' one Grin

Alabama3 · 17/03/2018 21:03

still got the stupid sponsored pages though (in the other pic) and fuck off with your trying to guilt me

I have two ad blockers installed and the dancing rabbits are still there.

Balearica · 17/03/2018 21:19

I find the dancing rabbits really irritating!

Idontdowindows · 17/03/2018 21:21

I've blocked the rabbits separately.

BuzzKillington · 17/03/2018 21:25

I don't see the dancing rabbits! Grin

I have an ad blocker. Sites that remind me, just make me switch off. Lately, I am seeing sites that say 'We've noticed you've got an ad blocker installed' and I have to click on 'I don't care' which is strangely satisfying.

Omgineedanamechange · 17/03/2018 21:29

OMG, this^

Advertisers take note, a subtle ad at the side of the page, fine. Hell, I might even read it. Half the page blocked with a huge banner that I can’t get rid of, FUCK OFF! If they were advertising free money I’d still freaking ignore it on principle.

LadyLoveYourWhat · 17/03/2018 21:59

So how do you propose that news sites make money without adverts or sponsors? Would you pay a subscription?

Alabama3 · 17/03/2018 22:04

subtle adverts - not bloody great big take over the page make you click on it to get rid of them taking hours to load shit adverts

thats how

they still show the bloody sponsored shite at the bottom

OP posts:
PodgeBod · 18/03/2018 00:43

Well websites have to make money to pay the people that make the content. If the ad is too unobtrusive, it doesn't function well as an ad.
It seems fair enough to me.
I would rather be annoyed by an advert then have to pay a subscription to every website I visit.

marchonto2018 · 18/03/2018 01:03

No ads on the app.

Whenever I use the desktop or mobile site I realise how annoying the ads are.

marchonto2018 · 18/03/2018 01:04

Sorry. What a lie.

So small and unmoving I don't notice them!

Littledrummergirl · 18/03/2018 01:14

I deliberately ignore these ads and if I do need what they're selling I go to a competitor. Grin

I won't be seeing the rabbit film.

Treli · 18/03/2018 01:52

I use an adblocker and also run websites, hate the scammy ads that seem to be at the bottom of every website now and hate sites that don’t let you on unless you turn off adblocker, I just close the site rather then turn off.
Plenty of ways to make money without half a page of bargain basement spam ads.

DontOpenDeadInside · 18/03/2018 08:27

I play free postcode lottery which uses the revenue from ads to pay the winners (not that I've ever won) but even their ads don't take up an entire page (once or twice I've seen them and I check every day)

Alabama3 · 18/03/2018 09:00

I won't be seeing the rabbit film.
