I used to go to sixth-form college with a girl whose mum started Hyper Hyper. (Several of my friends went on to work/have stalls there). It was so cool, and so much better than Urban Outfitters which eventually took over the Ken High Street site.
In addition to Flip in Covent Garden, The Garage on Kings Road was another favourite place to buy secondhand Levis. Interstate on Endell Street opposite American Classics was too.
Whoever mentioned Stirling Cooper, yes, I remember that! It was one of the cooler shops and somewhere my older and very cool sister bought clothes.
Several posters were talking about Oxford Circus in the mid-late 90s which had H&M on one corner, Top Shop on another (where Nike Town now is), Shelley's on another and Benetton on the other.
There was also MASH further along on Oxford Street towards Tottenham Court Road, and also another Shelley's branch.
Am trying to remember where the Kookai was in addition to its concession in Selfridges. I loved Kookai, was chatting to a friend about them recently and how amazing their camisoles and mesh/gauze printed cardigans were.
Shopping in the 90s/00s was so much better, things were made properly, didn't fall apart after a few washes and on the whole, were more individual. I find shopping now a chore, everyone sells the same kind of things, mostly 'on trend' things. I don't want that. I want well made, good quality separates that wear well and are stylish.
