Forever fucking living and aloe juice "cures"

I'm fuming. I've just come back from a funeral of a dear friend who died far too young from cancer. My partner is recovering from cancer treatment and two close relatives died from it recently.

Someone from the village smarmed up to me and started bleating on about the benefits of aloe juice, and to add her on Facebook as she's sure it would be good for my partner. I took a look at her page and as I suspected, MLM "opportunities".

At. A. Fucking. Funeral. Do these people have no shame? AIBU to block her? (Sitting on my hands to not message her to fuck off to the far side of fuck...)

It is absolutely disgusting. I think you can report them if they are making claims about potential health benefits though.

I saw someone on Facebook a while ago claim those stupid juice pills had cured her son's autism. I wish I'd know you could report them at the time.

Those MLMs are like a cult, they should be illegal!

DalekDalekDalek · 14/03/2018 17:46

Oh, and it answer to your AIBU - definitely block her!

3EyedRaven · 14/03/2018 17:48

I’d message her telling her that trying to get business for her shit at a funeral is beyond vile, and to learn some respect. Then I d block.

Alabama3 · 14/03/2018 17:49

do message her
fucking terrible behaviour

Mrskeats · 14/03/2018 17:50

Awful. Definitely block

Dontletthebastardsgrindyoudown · 14/03/2018 17:50

Block her.

ILoveAntButHateDec · 14/03/2018 17:52

There’s none so desperate than those who fb friend anyone they come into contact with... Just to make a few bucks from selling their crappy products.

I fucking hate forever living and aloe Vera pushers!

To target someone at a funeral is the lowest of the low. YANBU!

adayatthebeach · 14/03/2018 17:54

Tell here how you feel. Really get it out of you so you can move on putting it behind you. Then block her. You have greaving to get through and no time for thoughtless people. Sorry for your loss. Flowers

“I’d message her telling her that trying to get business for her shit at a funeral is beyond vile, and to learn some respect. Then I d block.”

This, EXCEPT i would post it as a comment on one of her marketing hunbot unspirational bullshit posts - these people always have a bunch of them, set to public too. Then block. Girl bye.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/03/2018 17:56

I'm really sorry about your friend Flowers

YANBU. I'd be tempted too to tell her how inappropriate her behaviour was. Though I doubt she will take any notice of your "negativity".

I hope your partner is recovering well.

My friend died recently and one of her friends also used it to promote her MLM aloe vera products, including a post with my friend's photo scaremongering about deodorant and breast cancer Angry

People can be so crass, especially when they're deeply involved in this MLM stuff.

OfficerVanHalen · 14/03/2018 17:59

I’d also consider posting a one star review on the company’s official facebook page saying something like ‘if you have to hawk this snake oil to bereaved people at funerals, then it can’t be all it’s cracked up to be, and if you are telling your representatives that this disgusting behaviour is acceptable then you need to have a long hard look at how you train the gullible twats you’ve got shilling for you, you shameless bunch of huns’ then like a million flamenco dancer/painted nails/lipstick/prayer hands emojis

worriedsouth · 14/03/2018 18:06

I'm going to have a stiff drink and calm down before I do anything! This specimen is a big presence in one of the local churches too, and always comes across as a bit holier-than-thou. Bloody hypocrite!

Blocked, after telling her exactly what I thought of her - she had the audacity to send me a friend request!

Sorry for your loss OP Flowers

FifiVoldemortsChavvyCousin · 15/03/2018 21:18

Sorry for your loss, both OP and pp.

You need to shame her on her marketing page or Facebook or whatever. Preying on funerals is vile.

BlancheM · 15/03/2018 21:23

I really am starting to believe these MLM thingys are cults. Brainwashing previously decent people into behaving like shameless, immoral robots.
I'm sorry about your friend Flowers

londonrach · 15/03/2018 21:27

Dontletthebastardsgrindyoudown · 15/03/2018 21:30

I have a friend who is, I think, trying ever so hard to remain 'normal' while working for a mlm company. Buy I'm seeing through it, almost every post she does will somehow make its way back to her products Sad

Well done for calling her out op.

Kiki275 · 15/03/2018 21:32

I bought some aloe vera juice from a friend's relatives party.... for the dog. Did nothing for her arthritis but by god, did it make her fart something chronic.x

brownelephant · 15/03/2018 21:33

the benefits of aloe juice

the only legal medical claim for aloe is for relief of constipation. if they say anything else they can be in big trouble.

but anyway, what a shit timing. hope your partner does well on treatment.

appleschnapps · 15/03/2018 21:40

That's appalling to approach you at a funeral.

LeighaJ · 15/03/2018 21:42

At a funeral. Unbelievable.

Delete. Delete. Delete.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 15/03/2018 21:48

I admire your restraint is not punching the bloody vulture.
