AIBU to ask what is a realistic amount of weight to lose in 2 months for someone who is short and 12 stone?

Any tips?

3lb a week.

Cut sugar, fat, carbs but above all no alcohol

Your life will be a giant stir fry and grapes.

its generally safe and realistic to lose around 1.5 to 2 pounds per week. You'll lose more in the first week or two but lots of that will be water. If you are strict but sensible, I reckon you could be down between one and a half and 2 stone in 2 months.

PaperdollCartoon · 12/03/2018 12:22

Probably 2lbs a week, but if you exercised a lot as well as eating well you could lose more.

lurkingfromhome · 12/03/2018 12:24

Realistic in terms of sustainable in the long term, 1 to 2 lbs a week.

As for tips, I find routine really helps. Plan well in advance what you are going to eat for each meal, and factor in days where for whatever reason you might be eating more.

Decide what will be easy for you based on the diet you have already. I fill up every meal with lots of vegetables (even if it's the same thing a lot of the time) and don't drink my calories (so avoid lots of milky coffees, sugary drinks, alcohol). Maybe you'll find it easier to cut out all carbs - the best diet is the one you stick to so look at the food you already like and find the diet that suits it best.

Exercise is hugely beneficial but don't make the mistake of eating more than you're burning to compensate.

Track calories on My fitness pal, it will keep you accountable.

Good luck!

Thanks all.

I lost a stone before Xmas but I've let it slip. I don't think I can cut all carbs as I hate veg but can definitely cut down.

I was thinking 1200 calories a day, 10,000 steps and 20 mins cardio x4 a week.

1lb-2lbs a week doing the 5-2 diet

Thebluedog · 12/03/2018 12:41

If you’ve not dieted before, then you could lose half a stone in the first three weeks, but then after that, realistically 1lb a week.

IamtheDevilsAvocado · 12/03/2018 12:53

Probably 1-2 lbs weekly?

Blood sugar diet michael mosley was helpful to me... Has loads of helpful information in the book.

My fitness pal free app.... You can record your food diary here... What I do is I set up an alert to remind me at 915/1400/2000 hrs to remind me to record EVERYTHING that passes your ruby lips! You can also scan food in... So it's quite easy.

My dietician said its by far what /how much you eat rather than exercise (which obviously helps fitness!) helps with weight loss

You should easily be able to lose a stone in the 1st month and 7 or so lbs in the 2nd. You will need to cut food and exercise

Deshasafraisy · 12/03/2018 13:07

I have just lost 1 stone in 2 months without starving myself or doing a crazy change. Just by making better food choices and being slightly more active.

T2517 · 12/03/2018 13:07

I’m doing Whole30 atm and I’m down 5lb in two weeks by cutting out dairy, sugar and artificial processed food. I have 4 stone to lose but this has just made me have so much more energy and I feel amazing.
