Sorry. didn't.

Einstein's birthday and the day Hawking died. The birth and death of two great geniuses on one mathematical day. The very maudlin side of me is pondering this considerably today.

Yes, I imagine tracking which accounts at pushing the anyone-but-Russia narrative will be very instructive in identifying bots & bot-friends.

Did you say PIE day, cozie???? Oh goodie! I'll have a slice of apple pie with a chunk of sharp cheddar.

Oh, wait.....that wasn't a typo was it? Damn.

Maths.....I hate maths.

It's National Student Walkout for Gun Control Day and we're watching the students across the country taking a stand and demanding action. God bless them, they are the future. If mine were still that age they'd be out there for sure. As would I, just like back in the day when we were protesting Viet Nam and for Civil Rights.

Of course our Trumpster friends' DD has been absolutely forbidden to participate.

cozietoesie · 14/03/2018 14:33

....absolutely forbidden....?? Oh Dear..............

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 14/03/2018 14:38

Sorry, the link to the article is about how diplomats are also being expelled in the UK.

AcrossthePond55 · 14/03/2018 14:44

Yep. You know, she's a pretty 'amenable' kid, a bit 'mouthy' as all kids are at that age. She doesn't argue with them much about what she can and cannot do.

But looking at her you can see something in her eyes that seems to say "Just wait". Her brother has gone very, very LC with their dad over his controlling behaviour. He maintains enough contact to make life 'comfortable' for his mother. I have a feeling that their DD will end up going the same way.

My parents disagreed with my anti-war stand, Dad especially was 'pro-Viet Nam' as he served in WWII and believed 'my country right or wrong'. But he never tried to stop me from expressing my views or taking part in protests. He believed that that was what he fought for.

Natsku · 14/03/2018 15:20

That poor daughter. My parents would never have tried to stop me from taking part in something I felt strongly about even if they didn't agree with it. Dad would have argued his case with me but not stopped me. They probably realised I would have disobeyed them anyway...

cozietoesie · 14/03/2018 15:49

I took one look at the Dow and thought to myself 'What has he tweeted?!'

Sure enough.........

The man is clueless.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 14/03/2018 16:25

This PA18 GOP analysis is fantastical - Trump pulled Saccone back from a 6 point defeat to a near thing. Also, pre-elections he was Pelosi's lamb and post election he's essentially a Republican. Not surprising but once upon a time this blatant rejection of reality or even wildly contradictory positions in the space of 24 hours would have been notable.

Roussette · 14/03/2018 16:39

Natsku my DPs would have absolutely stopped me and I rebelled bigly. I've let my DCs plough their own furrow because of this!

Natsku · 14/03/2018 16:56

Wise move Roussette

Bealing is a new one. Smile

cozietoesie · 14/03/2018 17:12

Sadly, not for 45! Grin

Lweji · 14/03/2018 17:13

Because it's Trump relevant.

"In 2004, a New York Times reporter asked Stephen Hawking what his IQ was. “I have no idea,” the theoretical physicist replied. “People who boast about their IQ are losers.”"

lionheart · 14/03/2018 17:14

Very true.

'So deeply red has this seat historically been, the Republican party should have held onto it fielding a blind St Bernard with a lisp.'

boatyardblues · 14/03/2018 17:25

Let’s face it, whatever 45’s IQ is, his vanishingly small EQ renders him unable to function as a decent human being.

www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/austin-package-bomb-victims-connected-family-ties-skin-color-n856621

The two Texans killed earlier this week in Austin by package bombs were members of prominent African-American families and knew each other, the local NAACP president said Wednesday.

“They have a long history and go the same church,” Nelson Linder said of victims Stephen House and Draylen Mason in an interview with NBC News.

AcrossthePond55 · 14/03/2018 17:29

Ha! That gave me a giggle, Lweji.

I agree with others. I stayed OUT of my children's political beliefs and they were free to express them in any non-violent, non-criminal way they chose to. We mostly agreed, but had some spirited debates at times. And we all learned.

I have to admit when BFF told me that her DD was not allowed to go and her DD gave me the 'side eye' I opened my mouth, but promptly shut it without saying anything. Not my circus etc etc. She's only got a few more years at home.

AcrossthePond55 · 14/03/2018 17:31

Ah. So it sounds as if the Austin bombings might be racially motivated?

I haven't been following the story too closely.

The benefits of arming teachers-

mobile.twitter.com/CBSNews/status/973886465691344896
A teacher accidentally fired a gun inside a California classroom and a student was slightly hurt, authorities say.

As far as I can tell, the gun control debate has changed from "let's ban assault rifles" to "let's discuss the possibility of people not being able buy some guns until they're 21".
