My little boy and I Followed home about a mile by a lovely grey and white cat, no collar.

It’s outside waiting for me to let it in, what do I do- help

We received a pc one day to ask if our cat was missing, she'd been taken into Pets At Home, 5 miles away, and had her microchipped checked.

It turns out that she'd been taken there by our new, lovely Next door neighbours. 😂 they didn't know she was ours and had been taken in by the lack of collar and miaowing. She has always been skinny, despite eating loads, and she is a greedy guys. They were convinced she was a poor stray!!

We were GrinGrinand thankful that they were so kind, albeit taken in! Grin

I put pepper pig on for my toddler while I go ready and it bolted out the window. I think it decided this house is not for me

OP, that was brilliant!! Grin Grin

EnglishRose13 · 06/03/2018 17:26

I'm not going to lie, I was hoping for something creepier when I clicked on this thread.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 06/03/2018 17:34

Yep EnglishRose Grin I was hoping for an unmarked police car following Op home. Luckily she didn't get collared for driving home in the car she impulsively stole from the Ferrari garage forecourt after a test drive but what now?

TroubledLitchen · 06/03/2018 17:46

Poor little thing, time for a cat??!!

NonnieMouse · 06/03/2018 17:57

I must be completely heartless because I'd just utterly ignore it. I certainly would not be putting myself out in any way shape or form and taking it to vets or whatever Confused Why would I, its not my cat, it can surely sort itself back home?

Chocywockydodahhhhhh · 06/03/2018 19:12

The cat was back at the door, my DH Just went out to the bins and it followed him in. It does look a bit thin. Not sure if I should open the window and put pepper pig on or let it stay the night.

Would opening the door of the shed and putting some food in be ok. I don’t want to encourage it in if it does have an owner. Can take it to the vets tomorrow

TroubledLichen · 06/03/2018 19:15

I would opt for feeding (because the thought of a hungry cat makes me so sad) but outside. The shed sounds like a great idea as long as it won’t get stuck in there, make sure the door is wedged open. If the cat is still around tomorrow then beg/borrow a carrier and off to the vets! And please keep us updated!

DalekDalekDalek · 06/03/2018 19:17

put pepper pig on

My cat hates Pepper Pig but loves Location, Location, Location. Try that instead.

retirednow · 06/03/2018 19:20

If kitty is still theremput some food out in the shed and a bowl of water, not milk as some cats can't tolerate cows milk. Put a cardboard box in there with an old woolly or towel for it to sleep on and some old newspaper for a tiddle. Pics please.

thecatneuterer · 06/03/2018 19:24

Keep it in tonight if you can. Can you get a litter tray from somewhere?

Then get scanned for a chip at your nearest vet. But, VERY IMPORTANT!!, don't transport it anywhere except in a proper cat carrier. If you don't have one then borrow one from somewhere.

PoppyCherry · 06/03/2018 19:25

Two of my cats are currently MIA.. one disappeared in Sep 16 and one in Sep 17

I really hope if they follow someone home one day, that person feeds them then takes them to a vet (they are chipped)

Likewise, I have taken a cat to a vet that I was concerned about, to find it chipped whereupon I promptly drove it home. Turns out it was from 2 streets away and not lost at all. Nonetheless, the owner was so pleased I’d taken the trouble to check that all was ok, they gave me a bottle of wine.

Please feed the cat (in your shed or your home, either way... it’s warm enough out at the moment), then take it to a vet who will scan for a chip for free.

You just never know.

WorraLiberty · 06/03/2018 19:27

Are you on Facebook, OP?

My local area has about 3 lost and found pet pages, so it might be worth seeing if yours does too.

Also, some really lovely volunteers from the group regularly go out and scan found pets, to see if they're chipped/reported missing.

claraschu · 06/03/2018 19:33

Sounds like someone's cat who has got lost, because he is friendly and looks healthy but thin. I would keep him inside, feed him, and take him to the vet to check for a chip. Then I would put up posters and look on a local Facebook page to see if someone has lost a cat. It is SO sad to lose a beloved cat, and you might be able to reunite him with a grieving family, which would be such a wonderful thing to do.

It does sound like you need your own lovely cat though!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 06/03/2018 19:37

Putting some food in the shed and a blanket sounds like a plan. Just try not to let your toddler fall in love with the cat!

Chocywockydodahhhhhh · 06/03/2018 20:01

My toddler is in bed so does not know the cat has come back. The cat is settled in a box with a blanket in the shed after having some salmon and a drink of water I am checking local Facebook pages good idea worra
The shed door is left a bit open so the cat can leave if it wants too. I have spoke to my neighbour and if the cat is still there in the morning I can borrow their cat carrier to take the car to the vets. It’s a stray we will keep it if we are allowed and if it wants us (may have to lay off the pepper pig)
DH was unsure and I thought a bit mad I had let the cat in in the first place, but I have just caught him talking to the cat in the shed saying it will be ok and we will look after him or her. Softy Grin
DH is bobbing down to the local police and community together meeting that is on tonight to ask people to ask around about a missing cat.

I have tried to take a picture but it is so dark in the shed and the only one I managed to get before was a great shot of the cats bum.

FittonTower · 06/03/2018 20:04

If you just ignore it will it not just wander off back to where its supposed to be? I thought thats what cats did?

claraschu · 06/03/2018 20:07

Cats do get lost Fitton, especially if they follow someone a mile out of their usual stomping grounds. Most cats don't actually roam that far.

Ellendegeneres · 06/03/2018 20:08

My cat takes peppa pig time as her opportunity for a cuddle with me while toddler ds runs round the room snorting and occasionally pressing his nose to telly.
Much prefers supervet though. Try that op!
And if cat does have a home, might be time for you to look into rehoming one- yours is clearly a cat friendly house!

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/03/2018 20:08

No, if it’s lost it can’t wander back and won’t know how to hunt to feed itself.

If you can borrow a carrier, vets might have one you can put a deposit on, the vets will scan for a chip.

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/03/2018 20:09

I’d bring it in, it’s cold tonight.

retirednow · 06/03/2018 20:09

SalmonGrin I wonder how long it will be till dh insists the poor little thing is cold and brings it into the house

Chocywockydodahhhhhh · 06/03/2018 20:10

It can get out Fitton if it wants to, If it wanders off by the morning and then comes back in the afternoon I will be more inclined to think it has an owner and it wants an extra place to be fed

OP posts:
AnimalDaze · 06/03/2018 20:10

Um you're not in the south side of a big city north of the border OP are you? Is it quite a large grey and white cat? I only ask as we had one brought in to work today (vets) and it was returned to the owners garden over a mile away and had been 'found' 12 times previously.
