To send this in as part of my PIP appeal

I have posted on here a few times about PIP. I have 15 seizures a week but have not been awarded enough PIP points.

I did not get any points for toilet needs even though I quite often lose control of my bowels and bladder and need help cleaning myself up as I am that disoriented after a seizure. Last night I had a huge accident and was in a right mess, my DH took a photo and has told me to send it in as part of my PIP appeal.

Would this be unreasonable do you think.

no sorry sending a photo would not be reasonable that is just revolting get more medical records to back up your claim .these people are coming to my hubby today at 1pm so i know its nerve racking .

Go and speak to the CAB. They usually have someone who works in this field alone and will advise you on what to do for the best. I'm a support worker for a man with severe learning difficulties, and some of the points he never got for things, like toilet needs were ridiculous! A very high percentage of people win appeal, I'm pretty sure they award points with their eyes closed, so they don't have to pay out, and in hope people don't appeal. Good luck

The letter I had from two doctors including a consultant said I was incontinant after seizures. They have just ingnored it

surely these people should know that this usually happens with epilepsy i thought they were supposed to be trained medical proffesionals.you will probably win on appeal not that that helps you just now

Mrsmadevans · 05/03/2018 08:38

You need more evidence but the photograph you want to send in could be staged OP they won't want to know . You need Dr's reports , Consultants reports, evidence from the medics, not a degrading pic of you being indisposed . I am so sorry my dear but you do not have to degrade yourself in this way to qualify for PIP. If you are not granted the correct PIP then you can appeal . Good Luck.

look sorry i didnt mean you are disgusting dont think that but if you send in photos of this kind you could find yourself being charged for sending malicous mail thats the bit i would worry about .

Yes speak to your local CITIZENS ADVICE office. They can advise re photos and can help you appeal if they think you have grounds to appeal. They won’t see you straight away, they are busy, volunteers, cuts etc but they will be able to help you.

Have you asked for Mandatory Reconsideration? This is the first stage before going to an appeal. CAB can help with this, but you need to do it quickly. It is definitely worth appealing, The success rate of appeals is pretty high, because they are heard by a tribunal rather than the DWP.

I definitely understand your frustration but that photo won't help your case and probably will harm it.

The tribunal seems to place most weight on medical evidence - letters from doctors, consultants, specialist nurses, etc. The more you can provide the better.
