To think Eddie Redmayne is a really annoying Marius

I’m clearly not being unreasonable.

His rubbishness, quivering mouth and old fashioned voice have just been overshadowed by the utter crapness of Russell Crowe.

Not sure I can make it through the rest.

I'm growing to detest Marius as a character,he's just a bit of a dick. Eddie Redmayne jaw is giving me the rage.

Also, Javert talks about himself in the 3rd person too much for my liking. Like a bad CV.

I like Ramin but I don't like his Phantom or his Valjean! Loved him as Raoul and think he's a very talented guy though.

The casting is shocking save for Enjolras and Eponine. I missed Drink With Me too. And the Thenardiers were a joke. And Stars was shit. Liked Colm and Hadley in cameo and George Blagden is a good Grantaire. His rewriting of Follow You Into The Dark on YouTube is amusing.

I've seen Les Mis on stage 8 times and I hate this film version! awful awful awful.
I was lucky enough to see Samantha Barks play Eponine twice. she was amazing - the best I've ever seen. The first time I saw her was before I'd seen the 25th anniversary performance so I didn't know that the E I was about to see was considered to be so good. The man who was playing Marius was such a munter (it was after the Jonas brother had left) and I remember saying that I doubted very much that a girl that gorgeous would be in love with a man like that.
The next time I saw her, Gareth Gates was Marius. He was pretty good. I'd forgotten I'd seen him until this thread...

The last time I saw it was years ago now, it was Ramin Karimloo as Valjean and Hadley Fraser as Javert. dream casting but it was crap. They were good - but they seemed to have sped the whole thing up so all the songs lost their impact.
And then the film came out.
I haven't bothered to see it since.

Please watch the cast performance at the oscars. Russel Crowe is just hilarious. So awful

I loved the stage production of Les Mis since my teens but absolutely loathed the film.

I actually thought Crowe and Jackman were well cast though. Redmayne was ok but loads of other young actors would've been a better choice. Hathaway was excruciating. Barks was a gorgeous Eponine.

Eddie Redmayne is the male version of Keira Knightly.

Annoying face, mediocre talent and in bloody everything.

See I thought Marius was supposed to be an irritating posh boy so I though Eddie fit quite well...

I think Karimloo is a brilliant enjolras, haven’t seen him as valjean.

I do think they cut too much out of the film and there was too much ‘talk singing’ rather than actual singing

Karimloo shouldn't work as Enjolras but he truly does. He does passionate fervour well. I love him with Hadley as Grantaire. They have a good rapport.

I agree with Enjolras re Marius. Nobody cares about your lonely soul.
