To think Eddie Redmayne is a really annoying Marius

I’m clearly not being unreasonable.

His rubbishness, quivering mouth and old fashioned voice have just been overshadowed by the utter crapness of Russell Crowe.

Not sure I can make it through the rest.

So excited I posted too soon.
The first time I saw the film it was on a very large screen and I was sitting very close to it. It was a horrible experience and I immediately declared that I couldnt bear to look at him any more and averted my gaze when he was on screen.

However I did go on to grudingly watch the Stephen Hawking movie and knew instantly that he would win an Oscar for it.

ReinettePompadour · 04/03/2018 23:15

Is his mouth as rubbery in person Not that ive noticed. He has a big smile though. The staff all like him. I find his car very big and he tends to park wonky. Clearly he needs a smaller car. Hmm

slithytove · 04/03/2018 23:18

Bring him home isn’t awful but those high notes sound very forced

In fairness to Eddie he looks like a very nice person
Just hate that face and voice

Not looking forward to empty chairs at empty tables

Gavroche has died 😢

I thought the same until Empty Chairs.

slithytove · 04/03/2018 23:25

Oh secret I will keep my fingers crossed then
The lovely Enjolras has died too now
Such a sad story

I agree about Eddie as Marius. When I watched it the first time round I said then that Marius and Cosette were miscast. I think Marius should be handsome....And Amanda Seyfrieds voice...Just no!!

slithytove · 04/03/2018 23:34

Ok empty chairs now

Is his face honestly it gives me the rage

Far more bearable if I look away

His emotion is good but I adore this song anyway

Can live with Cosette being miscast, she’s just annoying anyway.

It’s the failure to get the ‘big’ songs right that makes the whole thing fall completely flat.

slithytove · 04/03/2018 23:36

Why does he shake his jaw? Is that the only way he can get vibrato? So annoying!

It’s a shame that scene was cut (bamatabois) I really like the lyrics to it

He is 100% of the reasons why I haven't seen this film, or Fantastic Beasts

Ugh. Stop casting him in anything things I want to see, please, casting directors

slithytove · 04/03/2018 23:50

Valjean now dying

Have to say Hathaway’s voice is very clear and pure, I do like it
Don’t think it was showcased in the gritty earlier scenes in the same way

Ah DS1 and I watched this last night and both cried. Don't be grumpy. Just enjoy it. (Eddie does have really weird lips in this though)

user187656748 · 04/03/2018 23:54

As a result of watching though DS1 has been watching Ali G and Borat on youtube all afternoon

NinjagoNinja · 05/03/2018 00:00

I thought that was a great film. Loved it.

But, in general, I do not like watching Eddie Redmayne, he's so...fey.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 05/03/2018 00:04

Amazing If it’s any comfort, Colin Farrell swans around looking great in a fabulous coat...balances out Odd-Lips Eddie Grin

Dixiestampsagain · 05/03/2018 00:05

He’s just not Marius, is he. I saw Gareth Gates playing a very convincing version indeed (moreso than the chap from SClub..). I’ve seen it live about 7!times but couldn’t bring myself to watch the film more than once.

BlondeB83 · 05/03/2018 00:09

I don’t mind Eddie! I also really like Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, bit of Broadway class there.

BlondeB83 · 05/03/2018 00:10

Looking forward to seeing the tour, the West End production has been on the decline for a good few years now but a tour usually means they up their game.
