To think eating a whole tub of ice cream isn’t normal?

I don’t like the word normal but I couldn’t think of anything else.

Now I can have my piggy moments and binge.

We were talking about takeaways and a friend said she could easily and does eat an entire tub of ice cream with her dominos pizza.

Do other people do this?

I do. I am different from you in that I find eating to excess distasteful and unpleasant.

Roomba · 03/03/2018 11:53

I couldn't eat an entire tub of ice cream in one go. My sensitive teeth are screaming at the thought of it and I'd feel sick as it is very rich. I couldn't eat a whole Domino's pizza either as I find them so salty I end up awake guzzling pints of water all night! But who am I to judge? I could definitely probably manage a whole block of cheese in one go, given half a chance.

Chienrouge · 03/03/2018 11:56

Please just try to accept that other people are different from you

That’s fine, and I’m lucky with my metabolism too and have never been overweight.
However, accepting that people are different means accepting that some people don’t want to eat massive portions of ice cream/pizza etc, and that having the opinion that it is too much food for one sitting does not mean that they’re jealous of you.
I probably could eat a whole tub of ice cream after a whole pizza but I wouldn’t, because I’m very into health/fitness and nutrition and it would make me feel crap. I’m certainly not jealous of people who choose to do so.

redmarkone · 03/03/2018 12:01

well its not average but i could do it easily without batting an eyelid as it normal for me. i eat about 2400 cals daily but am active and a bit hyperactive so i manage to stay 9 stone 10 lbs to 10 stone and with a lower half of normal bmi range at 5 ft 9 inches

AndromedasMoon · 03/03/2018 12:01

When I had my first DS by c section I binged on junk because it was easier and piled on the weight. Incredibly unhappy about it but I’m trying to change it as my mother was in quite bad health and she died in her 40s. Though junk and sweets are incredibly addictive and so is the need or want to snack on those crappy little things.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 03/03/2018 12:02

Of course it’s not normal, that’s why half the people on this island are obese.

thirstyformore · 03/03/2018 12:02

Not read the full thread but I'm so happy that a full tub of ice cream is only 1000 calories!

Qcumber · 03/03/2018 12:03

Why would anyone be jealous of someone who clearly has no willpower and an unhealthy relationship with food Confused
Just because you're healthy now doesn't mean your body isn't being damaged by the effects of overeating.
Also comments about how PP feel it's ok to eat a whole tub of ice cream because they're only a size 8/10 are increasingly ignorant. Size and health don't always correlate. But if that makes you feel better about your binging 🤷🏼‍♀️

SweetLike · 03/03/2018 12:04

I can so easily say no to this. But I'm not a huge ice cream fan, haha..! I think doing it on a weekly basis would be excessive but once every couple of months isn't unusual I wouldn't have thought. I can demolish a multi pack of space raiders in a day 😨

Qcumber · 03/03/2018 12:04

Incredibly*

smashyourglasses · 03/03/2018 12:07

Qcumber - because we can eat what we like without having to watch calories or 'feeling guilty'.

BiologyMatters · 03/03/2018 12:09

I wonder if you'll be so smug and pleased with yourself when all that saturated fat catches up with you in a few years?

Qcumber · 03/03/2018 12:10

It's not about watching calories. I don't count calories or feel guilty about eating. It's about your health long term and the effects eating that much fat will have on your body on the future. You cannot eat that way and stay healthy forever. (Note not 'thin' 🙄)

Purplerain101 · 03/03/2018 12:12

@smash not everyone who chooses to eat a balanced diet feels “guilty” when they eat a bad meal. Sometimes I love nothing more than a Chinese takeaway and I certainly don’t feel any guilt afterwards. A lot of people who eat healthily the majority of the time don’t always do it because they need to watch calories either. Shock horror but some people just enjoy taking care of their health. I love the taste of healthy food and don’t feel “jealous” of those who only over eat junk food every day

Dowser · 03/03/2018 12:13

How much is in a tub. A pint?
I love ice cream but can’t eat it thanks to lactose intolerance.
Tewo scoops would be ample.

HamishBamish · 03/03/2018 12:13

I thought eating whole tubs of ice cream was something which happened in sitcoms. I never knew people did it in real life!

I guess it depends on the size of the tub, but if it’s a size for more than one person then I do think it’s excessive. If I saw someone eat that much in one sitting I would wonder if they had an eating disorder.

Chienrouge · 03/03/2018 12:14

Qcumber - because we can eat what we like without having to watch calories or 'feeling guilty'

I think you’re the one who doesn’t understand that everyone is different. I can eat what I like, and I don’t feel guilty for anything I choose to eat. I wouldn’t feel guilty for eating a whole pizza followed by a tub of ice cream. I just choose not to, because I don’t want to. I am in no way jealous of someone who chooses to eat like that, why would I be?

Purplerain101 · 03/03/2018 12:14

@dowser B&J’s do 3 dairy free ice creams now made from almond milk. They have the chunky monkey one and fudge brownie. Can’t remember the other flavour

Tinycitrus · 03/03/2018 12:14

It’s pretty greedy to eat that much in one sitting.

smashyourglasses · 03/03/2018 12:15

I'm very active, in work and out. I'm not saying i only eat junk food, i eat healthy too. Live for today - i could be knocked off my bike tomorrow and then there won't be diabetes/high blood pressure in my future 🙄

Chienrouge · 03/03/2018 12:16

Shock horror but some people just enjoy taking care of their health

Exactly this. I choose not to eat loads of crap because I know it’s not good for my body. Nothing to do with weight. I prefer to eat things that I know are good for me.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 03/03/2018 12:17

I eat healthily the majority of the time and am a size 6-8, but can I eat a whole tub of ice cream? Throw in pmt or my ex winding me up? Yep.. Fraid so..
Fwiw in a previous job I went on a Ben and Jerry's training day, and the single scoops you get in the cinema weigh about 90g and are a 5th of a supermarket tub.

Chienrouge · 03/03/2018 12:18

Live for today - i could be knocked off my bike tomorrow and then there won't be diabetes/high blood pressure in my future

You still don’t get it. I’m not denying myself those things, i don’t eat them because I don’t want them. I actively choose not to eat them because I don’t want them. We’re not all sat here drooling over pictures of pizza and ice cream and wishing we could eat them. Some of us just don’t want to eat them.

Purplerain101 · 03/03/2018 12:18

@cold sounds like you are balanced with your eating if you eat well most of the time but enjoy the occasionally splurge. Nothing wrong with that at all

Qcumber · 03/03/2018 12:19

The thought of eating a whole pizza or a whole tub of ice cream makes me feel sick. I honestly find the thought of that leek of gluttony disgusting. I enjoy treats. Just not shoving 3000calories in my mouth for the sake of it.
