Marketing email from Jamie's Italian.
AIBU to question the wisdom of encouraging people out in Red Weather alerts?

I understand there's a failing empire to prop up, but ffs show a smidge of intelligence.

Hmm

Yeah its daft.

NatureWalk · 01/03/2018 16:33

Yanbu, schools etc are closed because people cant/shouldnt travel unnecessarily. Going out to eat is unnecessary.

MumGoneMild · 01/03/2018 16:33

The whole country's not on red.
People can, will and have gone out in snow with children and lived to tell the tale

MaisyPops · 01/03/2018 16:33

A bit of desperation surely?
Did i read somewhere thay Jamie's Italian are having financial difficulties.

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 01/03/2018 16:37

Guess it depends where you live and how easy it is to get there. You might live a long way from school or the school is shut, but you live near to a Jamie's. Would probably be nicer for the staff to just go home.

StandingOvulation · 01/03/2018 16:41

It's self-serving bollix. I'm really long respect for him.

Has peak Jamie been reached?

Only small pockets of the country are on red alert though.

It’s a marketing ploy to get people through the doors of a failing business. It isn’t an order!

TheViceOfReason · 01/03/2018 16:43

Shock horror, failing business uses anything it can to increase foot fall.

Most of the jamie's italians aren't even in red warning zones, it's really not an issue.

ReasonableLlama · 01/03/2018 16:44

It's just using the snow as an excuse to advertise the restaurants. I would hope people are sensible enough to decide if it is worth the journey or not.

Aridane · 01/03/2018 16:45

Don't really see the problem

NewYearNewMe18 · 01/03/2018 16:45

For some children - who are missing their FSM - this may be a way of eating today.

Not everyone is in a Red Alert.

WishingOnABar · 01/03/2018 16:46

How long does the offer run? We are anticipating school closure tomorrow and planning a day out at our local cinema. Cheap Italian food sounds right up our street Grin

DalekDalekDalek · 01/03/2018 16:46

I lost respect for him the day he interfered with turkey twizzlers. Bastard!

And I think quite big areas are on red warnings now, the whole of Wales and SW England are. And huge amounts on amber.

Grilledaubergines · 01/03/2018 16:47

Well the invite is there. It doesn’t mean you need to accept it. I dare say the company rely on people using common sense. If it puts people in danger to venture out, they’re unlike to think “well, Jamie says it’s ok”.

GrannyGrissle · 01/03/2018 16:47

Peak Jamie happened a long time ago. About when he became a professional dinner lady botherer? So he's resorted to giving away his crap food now? Wonder if there'll be any takers?

Phosphorus · 01/03/2018 16:48

I don't think FSM kids are really their target.

Adults who have the money for those 'restaurants' aren't struggling to feed their children.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/03/2018 16:49

Really NewYear? If they're on FSM I doubt their parents will have the inclination to spend their money at Jamie's somehow.

falsepriest · 01/03/2018 16:50

Some families might have the kids stuck at home and can have a cheap(er) meal out together if they're not stuck in a RED ALERT YOU WILL FROSTBITE AND DIE zone. They might get extra sales and good publicity, cos they're yknow a business. Lighten up.

crunchymint · 01/03/2018 16:50

Op get a grip. We have just been out and walked down to our local high street. No Jamie's there but if there was, it would have been perfectly safe to visit.

LimonViola · 01/03/2018 16:50

I'm fairly sure grown adults in charge of children can make their own risk assessments about where is and isn't safe to travel to 🙄

george49 · 01/03/2018 16:50

What's with the utter misery on MN today?

Sounds like a lovely idea and plenty of people will either live within walking distance or won't have much snow

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/03/2018 16:50

X post Phosphorus!

gingergenius · 01/03/2018 16:51

Let hope all the businesses everyone else work for don't have to resort to 'desperate' marketing tactics to get customers during difficult times?! Everyone needs to earn a living. If they don't get customers, their staff will end up without jobs. It's a perfectly reasonable suggestion and I'm fairly sure people who can't make it out if their driveway are also unlikely to risk life and limb to get to a Jamie's. Confused

winglesspegasus · 01/03/2018 16:51

like all optional things in life
if you don't like, it don't do it
