Marketing email from Jamie's Italian.
AIBU to question the wisdom of encouraging people out in Red Weather alerts?

I understand there's a failing empire to prop up, but ffs show a smidge of intelligence.

Hmm

Well I would wonder how anyone manages to even get to a restaurant. We have knee deep snow!

WishingOnABar · 01/03/2018 16:52

Does it include 3 courses or just the main (asking for a friend GrinBlush)

MakeTodayAmazing · 01/03/2018 16:52

We live literally next door to a Jamie's but getting anywhere else is difficult, including trains mostly being cancelled.

Only have a baby but VERY tempting to go to get her free meal & eat it as seconds Grin

StandingOvulation · 01/03/2018 16:53

Well. If it's bad enough for schools to be shitm, then it's probably unwise to travel for a cheap not really meal.

Don't need to get my grip, cheers, dude. Smile

There’s one near our school. If DS had been little I might have taken him there for lunch (his school closed half day) as it’s on out way home.

gingergenius · 01/03/2018 16:55

No schools shut in my town. Would happily walk to a Jamie's for a free kids' meal. It's not compulsory!

tinkywinky2018 · 01/03/2018 16:56

For some children - who are missing their FSM - this may be a way of eating today

Yes, the kids on free school meals will all be down to Jamies Italian for their artichoke and truffle tagliatelle to make sure they eat today
Hmm

Lethaldrizzle · 01/03/2018 16:58

I think its great! Thanks for highlighting this offer for me op. I might pop down the high street with my kids and get me some free food. Love Jamie

squoosh · 01/03/2018 16:59

What's with the utter misery on MN today?

I have no idea. But there's certainly a LOT of it.

gingergenius · 01/03/2018 17:00

@squoosh I blame the lack of promised snow in my neck of the woods. My kids are all v annoyed that schools have stayed open. Maybe a free Jamie's meal might cheer them up? Grin

Clem7 · 01/03/2018 17:01

I think it’s a worthwhile announcement. Hull freezing over almost fits my criteria for returning to Jamie’s Italian.

george49 · 01/03/2018 17:02

I'm fed up of hearing about the fucking snow to be honest and my god, the whining.

Non uk here and I'd almost prefer you lot to get back to fisticuffs over p&c spaces!

squoosh · 01/03/2018 17:02

Kids living in hope that their school will be shut for a snow day only to be oppressed with perfectly mild weather have my total sympathy!

StandingOvulation · 01/03/2018 17:02

@Lethaldrizzle you need a code word Wink

I had a Jamie's recently and it was a bit crappola, it was the one at shepherds bush. Am I allowed to say that without getting sued? It was just really bog standard.

I work near the one on threadneedle street and I think that hits the spot more - it IS expensive, so the rich workers round there can afford it, and the restaurant is beauthiful it's an old bank with very high ornate ceilings etc The couple of times I've been it felt like a treat & the food was luxurious and delicious.

I think they expanded too far and lost their way maybe?

Anyway people in walking distance might well be interested in this offer so why not really Smile I don't see the DANGER side TBH

squoosh · 01/03/2018 17:03

Soon it will be 'it's just a bit too hot isn't it?'.

ALemonyPea · 01/03/2018 17:03

My local pub is offering kids eat free if they build a snowman first. I think it’s a cunning ploy to get the kids to clear up the snow in the car park. I’d go if I could be arsed to trudge through the snow.

gingergenius · 01/03/2018 17:05

@ALemonyPea GENIUS!!!

BevBrook · 01/03/2018 17:05

Well I would be really pleased with that if there was a Jamie's around here and would probably take them up on it. Our school, which is closed today, is 1.6 miles away. The town centre, on the other hand, is at the bottom of our road, and if there's a snow day tomorrow again I am planning on taking the kids to Patisserie Valerie for hot chocolate. I don't think I will be risking life and limb to do so.

gingergenius · 01/03/2018 17:06

@SnibbleAgain the one in Brighton is lovely! Had my first ever monitor there made by a very entertaining mixologist!

gingergenius · 01/03/2018 17:06

This qualifies as just about the most mumsnetty thing I have ever read. Just to clarify in case anyone isn’t sure kids on FSM do not have parents who can afford to eat an extremely overpriced pizza, if they did then those parents would be perfectly able to feed their children at home.

gingergenius · 01/03/2018 17:07

littlepill · 01/03/2018 17:08

Can I just send my kids and stay at home by the fire?

george49 · 01/03/2018 17:09

Get them to bring you takeout littlepill
