this level of crisp consumption isn't normal?

A food delivery came yesterday, including 14 packs of hula hoops and 6 packs of quavers, total 20 packets of crisps. The DDs and I had a packet each yesterday and DD1 had a packet in her lunch bag today. So that accounts for 4 packets. So there should be 16 packets left.

I've just looked and there are only 11 packets left. Which means that DP ate five packets of crisps yesterday. He's a greedy pig right?

This has made me start a bag of crops.

Laiste · 01/03/2018 15:31

Being currently house bound due to snow DH has today eaten (through boredom) 10 packets of Space Raiders, 5 packets of Hoola Hoops and 3 bags of Wotsits. There'll be more eaten this evening i expect. He's also had breakfast and a pizza for lunch.

He's fit and healthy with a manual job so a pig out's no biggie. Also the crisp stash is mainly for him anyway.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 01/03/2018 15:32

It’s ‘rude & gready’ when they were to be shared, especially if you were banking on them for mindees.

Perhaps he needs to have a shelf in a cupboard that’s ‘his’ no one else eats them and he doesn’t touch any other snacks, then you’ll know where you’re at.

Before you tell him off, just check none of the girls had them.

StaplesCorner · 01/03/2018 15:32

god we've run out of crisps, I just had the last spicy monster munch. And Asda may refuse to deliver!!!

Jaygee61 · 01/03/2018 15:33

Crisps are also the worst possible thing for your teeth h, worse than sweets apparently.

Birdsgottafly · 01/03/2018 15:35

OP, is he bothered by his binge eating, is he overweight?

I struggle with certain foods, the only way to control it is not to have them in the house, which he can't do.

gluteustothemaximus · 01/03/2018 15:36

Trying to have a break from crisps at the moment. Clicking on this thread was a bad idea.

They don't ever seem to fill you up, I could easily get through a giant packet (the ones meant for sharing).

AdoraBell · 01/03/2018 15:36

I’m on here because if I move I will demolish the mahoosive multi pack that’s in the cupboard

x2boys · 01/03/2018 15:37

I have eaten five packets of roast beef and mustard Brannigans in the past 24 hrs 🙄

NoSquirrels · 01/03/2018 15:38

Don’t you separate out “Family” food from “minder” food? How would you sort out your receipts for tax etc?

Tell him he’s messing with your business and get a cupboard lock.

ImNotWhoYouThinkIAmOhNo · 01/03/2018 15:39

I read once the Pringles contain something that stimulates your appetite and makes you eat more. So the slogan was a fact, not a boast.

I'm also sure I read that the 'something' had to be a declared ingredient by law in some countries - but UK isn't one of them!

Guest0925 · 01/03/2018 15:39

^ exactly this! How can you put things like this down as expenses if he’s scranning them?

gluteustothemaximus · 01/03/2018 15:40

roast beef and mustard Brannigans

Oh, these are delicious!

upsideup · 01/03/2018 15:40

5 packets of crisps in less than 24 hours is a lot! Did he have lunch and dinner? Its not so much the quantity of food but I would be sick of crisps if I had to eat 5 packets a day.

HarrietKettle · 01/03/2018 15:44

Oh god Pringles are like crack

blackteasplease · 01/03/2018 15:45

You need a separate cupboard or box for the snacks for mindees! If your dh doesn't accept "these are not for you"

lilcolibri · 01/03/2018 15:47

So are they the tiny kiddy packets of crisps?

If it was 5 bags of Sensations I'd be concerned, but hula hoops? Ehh...

crackerjacket · 01/03/2018 15:48

Are you sure your calculations were right in the first place?

Chathamhouserules · 01/03/2018 15:53

You're right that's not normal. I hate it when we buy nice food and then I hardly get to eat any because some people (DH) have no self control. And yes I could buy more, but don't want to spend ALL our money on food just because some people are greedy. Rant over.

WorraLiberty · 01/03/2018 15:53

No matter how many packets I order, he eats most of them.

Actually, same goes for biscuits, cake, anything really.

In that case, he's both greedy and thoughtless.

Have you tried speaking to him?

Vitalogy · 01/03/2018 15:55

I can it half a bag of the massive bags in one sesh if I've got some wine on the go.

purpleweasel · 01/03/2018 15:56

Hide them. If I didn't hide the biscuits we'd never have any for when guests come round

DuckBilledAardvark · 01/03/2018 15:56

If there aren't enough crisps left divide them into bowls.

Because I'm a mean mother my son gets half a bag of mini cheddars at a time, we rarely have other kids of crisps in the house.

Vitalogy · 01/03/2018 15:56

*or half a tube of Pringles

Talith · 01/03/2018 15:57

Packets are titchy these days, - I've eaten a six pack on a 2 hour drive without struggling and I'm not a big eater.
