To hate people calling themselves mad?

I’ve just been to a party where there was a photo collage of the birthday girl under the heading ‘she’s mad!’

She isn’t. She leads a perfectly ordinary, run of the mill life, as most of us do, but she’s always saying how ‘mad’ and ‘crazy’ she is. She isn’t a wild party animal, scheme rarely goes out. I’ve noticed people increasingly saying how mad they are, usually the ones who aren’t at all.

Why do they do it? It irrationally annoys me.

It's somewhat insensitive too. The experience of madness/insanity/psychosis is for many people terrifying and appalling. I've seen it described as 'disablist' on the oracle of twitter, but not sure I agree with that.

People often describe me as mad or weird. They’re probably right. I don’t think I’d go around saying how I’m mad though.

I don’t do dangerous sports or leave the house much, but I chat absolute bollocks half the time and have no filter. I’m also “mad” in the sense of mental health problems etc. I also have a type of OCD but my house is a mess, mine manifests itself in compulsively pulling my hair out when I’m stressed or anxious or overthinking.

Tbh I don’t know how I’d describe myself unless I was trying to bullshit my way through a job interview 😁

Yes she's an arsehole. I also don't like people describing themselves as "bubbly".

God, yes.
Bubbly = Brainless halfwit.

It gives me the rage too
They also say
Nobody gets my sense of humour
Because you are not fucking funny, that's why

fusushumi · 01/03/2018 16:55

My pet hate = anyone who describes themselves as having a bubbly personality....

Yes! Totally agree! "I'm dead mad" - no, you're not! Get over yourself love.
