To ask how to get white spirit out of washing machine?

Posting for traffic as have a good few loads that need doing!!!

Stupidly threw a cloth with white spirit in the wm earlier.

Not so bothered about the wash it was in with - a few bibs and floor covers so can rinse out by hand and replace if needed.

How do I get the smell out of wm?

I’ve put it on a couple of empty washes with powder. Cleaned the seals and door with fairy liquid....

Any other ideas? Putting and old towel in as a test wash but it still smells so don’t hold much hope.

Do a hot wash with soda crystals.

i did this it took about 2 weeks to get rid.
YY to soda crystals and leaving the door open
I also left a bowl of bicarbonate of soda in when not in use to absorb smell.
Just keep washing the old towels it will go eventually (and you will have a shit load of washing to do)

It needs to evaporate. I did this too, I did about 20 washes of hot/cold/vinegar rinse/baking bicarb soda/washing the doorseal/ soap powder/dishwasher tablet/bleach/soda crystals. Nothing worked. Door open and a dehumidifier beside it and not using it for ten days, a few more empty washes and it was fine.

Its a real pain and it's incredible how much washing there'll be to catch up on. Don't risk the clothes in it whilst the machine still smells.

Have you drained it completely each time?

Allthewaves · 28/02/2018 20:36

i used descaler powder at 90 and helped. Then couple towels on boil wash. Seemed to get rid

Eucalyptus oil may help break it up - I'd wash with eucalyptus oil in the prewash and regular washing powder/liquid. You may smell like a koala but it's better than white spirit.

Zoflora helped with mine; old towels and a 90 degree wash for a few loads.

It's a pain isn't it?!
