I live in west London, Zone 2. I’m on the committee planning a big event for parents at our school tomorrow night. It’s an independent primary school but the vast majority of families live locally. We have 150 parents coming and they’ve paid for their tickets. We’ve ordered food, plus we have drinks coming, tables and chairs hired, extra staff coming in to help, and lots of parent volunteers. I’ve been told by the Head that our school is unlikely to close tomorrow unless it’s very very bad. But even if school is open, are people going to want to come out? The worst would be if the event goes forward and half of the people don’t come.
The weather is of course unpredictable, but for logistical reasons it would be much much easier to make the decision by this afternoon as to whether or not to go forward with the event. AIBU or overly pessimistic to vote for canceling? We hope to reschedule but it’s not clear if that will be possible.
