Will be testifying tomorrow at the British Parliament on Russia’s use of fake news and propaganda at 10:30am U.K. time. Lots of examples from the Magnitsky case to educate lawmakers on Putin’s modus operandi

The BBC has obtained leaked emails that show a lobbying effort to get US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson sacked for failing to support the United Arab Emirates against regional rival Qatar.

Major Trump fundraiser and UAE-linked businessman Elliott Broidy met Mr Trump in October 2017 and urged him to sack Mr Tillerson, the emails reveal.

In other emails, he calls the top US diplomat "a tower of Jello", "weak" and says he "needs to be slammed".

Mr Broidy says Qatar hacked his emails.

NB: This does not show the videos.

The Islamic State (IS) group has published a video purporting to show an ambush in Niger in which four US soldiers were killed last October.

It is not clear why the release of the video - via an IS outlet on messaging app Telegram - was delayed until now.

The video consists mainly of raw footage, including images apparently filmed using a helmet camera belonging to one of the soldiers.

The video seems to suggest that the attack was carried out by IS militants.

PerkingFaintly · 05/03/2018 18:05

Ooh, thank you Pain, I'll try to catch that Digital, Culture, Media & Sport Commons committee tomorrow, when Browder appears. It's the 10:30 am session.

I'd also like to catch the Information Commissioner a bit after him, but might be too tired. I was knackered after watching Dix.

An anti-racism campaigner spent a year infiltrating the fringes of the white nationalist alt-right, and saw the real-world effects of extremist online ideology in Charlottesville.

Patrik Hermansson had thought the day's drama was over.

He had arrived at Emancipation Park in Charlottesville, Virginia, early in the morning of 12 August 2017.

I'd assumed it was just the usual "oops I made chlorine by accident" sort of jobby. Everyone taking precautions but no big deal.

Of course, it could turn out to be something like that, but former Russian spy critically ill due to contaminating substance... Not good.

Not good.

lionheart · 05/03/2018 19:56

He has a lot to fear but then I suspect that was already the case before his association with Trump.
