What did you want to be when you grow up?

My friend sent me a list of cool jobs that she wished she had known about when she was growing up (e.g. professional panda hugger!) and it got me thinking about what I wanted to be when I was growing up. I wanted to be a writer - but I don't know whether that's what I really thought was cool or what my parents thought was cool for me. What did everyone else want to be when they grew up?

Wanted to be a journalist. Actually became a civil servant, but I love my job so all's good.

Vet. I'm medical but not animals.

Friend wanted t be a police dog.

Well...

I always wanted to be a mounted police woman, never anything else, I put up with all the horrendous bullying at school to get the grades needed and prayed I would grow tall enough thankfully they removed the minimum height requirement #shortarse ... however when I applied I was turned down because someone who I don't know, have never met, will never meet has a criminal record ... its always been the biggest regret and upset of my life and seems so unfair to me

Journalist because I enjoyed writing. I still write for fun and my actual job involves a lot of writing but on reflection I’m glad I didn’t go into print journalism.
