To always put vinegar on chips?

I don't eat chips often but when I do, I put vinegar on them. Tonight i had quiche and chips so naturally sprinkled some vinegar on. DH says I'm weird and chips only need vinegar when eaten with fish. I'm right aren't I?

What is chips without vinegar! I love to drown them in vinegar as well.

I love vinegar on my chips - I read somewhere that vinegar lowers the GI so it even makes them into a healthy snack.........................

Notso · 27/02/2018 11:45

No vinegar on chips. It pisses me off if I share chips with DH and he drowns them in vinegar, he in turn gets pissed off with me for putting salt on. I really miss chip spice, and patties, I don't think they exist in Welsh chippies.
I like vinegar on fish though.

Chips must have vinegar. My DH says the vinegar is supposed to go on the fish but not on the chips. He says it makes the chips soggy. But this is obviously wrong. It makes the fish soggy to put vinegar on batter! The chips can take it, but the batter can’t!

Vinegar is totally disgusting and should only ever be balsamic vinegar (or glaze) served with melon and parma ham.

Ok - well I've learned something there then.

I have sometimes been known to have some chips with my (malt) vinegar. Grin

I also have vinegar on cooked cabbage.

My son has it on pizza but he is definitely weird.

YABU vinegar on chips is vile. It makes them all soggy and disgusting and the smell catches the back of my nose and throat. Ugh

FancyNewBeesly · 27/02/2018 12:08

Bearnaise sauce.

You’re welcome.

“ remember going to my in laws once and they didn't have vinegar, i had to go out and buy some 😂 actually I lie, they has some balsamic vinegar which I just put on my child until I bought some! “

Poor child! Grin

We never have vinegar on chips in this house. Ever. There are various vinegars in the cupboard, but they’re for cooking with or dressing salads, not putting on chips.

Rafflesway · 27/02/2018 12:17

Well I'm not eating near any of you lot!

Vinegar of any kind - malt, wine vinegar, balsamic, apple cider etc. - is vile stuff and smells revolting.

Mayo is just as bad.
self confessed seriously fussy eater Grin

Haha ... for clarity, I haven't tried to eat any of my children 😂 with or without vinegar. 😂 😂 😂

Autocorrect - keeping life interesting since (no idea, 2008?)
