To think you don’t beep your horn at pedestrians with sleeping children in prams?

Just had a total arsehole do this to me, when we were crossing the road. Apparently I wasn’t moving fast enough and I got a mouthful of abuse too.

You don’t do that, do you? I have joint pain, severe pain and depression and DS is ASD and I’d just got him to sleep.

Why do some people enjoy being such knobs to others?

OK you are actually starting to sound a little unhinged tbh.

WitchesHatRim · 25/02/2018 17:41

Don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll find a way to make them regret the abuse they gave me

You sound ridiculous.

tillytrotter1 · 25/02/2018 17:42

A sleeping baby needs to learn about noise and parents need to stop being so neurotic. I recall taking my fairly newborn down to the airport. The barrier was down for a passenger jet to land and I thought 'Oh hell, this'll wake her up' She never flinched though, then the little bell rang for the barrier to go up and she started to cry! I had friends who were horrified when I hoovered while she slept.

Cars don't come from nowhere

Maybe it was a DeLorean, going about 88mph (before it reached the junction)?

CatsForgotPassword · 25/02/2018 17:42

You can think I sound whatever I like. I’m confident I’m in the right and that they’ll regret it.

cats Was that me you were calling obtuse? Wasn't being obtuse at all. You said you were at a crossroad but you haven't described how long a road it was, if it was on a bend etc. It's hard to imagine why you didn't see the car, or if your view was obscured with the layout, why you didn't cross somewhere safer.

If you are right why post in AIBU

iklboo · 25/02/2018 17:43

They'll regret it? What are you going to do - put a hit out?

CatsForgotPassword · 25/02/2018 17:43

tilly my DS is ASD. Waking him during a sleep with a noise will lead to him being very upset.

Nick no, someone said I stepped out in traffic

Are you a serial killer 😵

Nicknacky · 25/02/2018 17:45

That's unfortunate he will get upset but there is little you can do when you are out and about.

Apart from not give cars a reason to beep at you, of course.

silver1977 · 25/02/2018 17:45

Were you at a designated crossing OP?

surreygirl1987 · 25/02/2018 17:45

I stepped out in traffic

Well you did, didn't you? I mean, if you were in the road when a car was driving along it...

UpABitLate · 25/02/2018 17:45
  1. Loads of places don't have many or any pedestrian crossings. Clearly people who live in or visit are not doomed to spend their entire lives on one side of the street
  1. Pedestrians have right of way, in the sense that if there is a pedestrian in the road, a car should slow down or stop or otherwise avoid them. The alternative is for it to be legal to run people over which, although it's been suggested in the USA in certain circs, is presumably not where we want to be
  1. I drive a car and am well aware that lots of car drivers are very aggressive, I get pissed of sometimes over minor things and it's hardly uncommon. There is something psychological that makes people less socially nice when put inside half a ton of metal - studies etc, we've all seen it in real life. I've been called a "slag", had a car literally run into me (slowly but on purpose), had poeple speed up and drive at me on pedestrain crossings etc etc.
  1. OP sorry you came across someone who wasn't keen on slowing down for 2 secs to allow a woman with a pushchair across the road, I'm sorry you're ill as well, threads like this never go well, look after yourself Smile

" Waking him during a sleep with a noise will lead to him being very upset."

well then don't walk him down the road when he is sleeping...Hmm

or is this the car driver's fault as well?

CatsForgotPassword · 25/02/2018 17:46

Are you a serial killer

Ya got me. I murder bad drivers.

No, I’m not (thought I’d clarify in case anyone takes that seriously).
