So I have recently returned to work after my littlest started nursery . I'm struggling with being in grown up clothes for the office but the worst part is tights !
Why can't I find decent opaques that don't ride down around the waist?
What causes them to bloody roll down anyway? It's driving m crazy and I look like Nora batty by lunch ..... please tell me
why this is happening - and/ recommend me. some that won't do that......

M&S opaque 40 denier, 3 in a pack, are fantastic. Size up, though.

RoseWhiteTips · 22/02/2018 14:08

The £8 pack.

Jolonglegs · 22/02/2018 14:20

M&S tights for me as well. I remember my mother wearing a pantee girdle to help keep her tights up, but I seem to manage ok with an extra pair of knicks. Perhaps TwuntinCrow needs to try a pair of knicks over her tights or even control knicks.

geekymommy · 22/02/2018 15:08

I hate tights and especially pantyhose. I am so glad that pantyhose are out of fashion, and hope this continues for a long time.

Originalfoogirl · 22/02/2018 15:23

I do the pants over the top thing as well. Works pretty well for me.

lycoperdun · 22/02/2018 17:17

Argh, tights! I can never find them long enough to stay up properly. So I thkn being to small and too short is your problem OP.

Not sure what to do about it though as I don't wear them except on rare occasions when I have a panic buying spree, followed by a nightmare day!

KateDuRhone · 23/02/2018 11:08

Wolford every time. The Velvet Deluxe range is gorgeous. Bloody expensive but so good.

FranticallyPeaceful · 23/02/2018 11:17

I go a size up as a PP said so you can pull them to your underboob. They stay up then

UpstartCrow · 23/02/2018 11:21

Tights pulled up to your armpits are just a sleevelss bodystocking and therefore sexy as fuck

LouiseCollins28 · 23/02/2018 11:27

Personally I love them, wear them lots and lots for the office year round. I wear holdups too but in the winter I'm in tights most days. Agree M&S do some nice ones, Nutmeg are good if on a budget, and Wolfords are heavenly if you aren't :-) I like Pretty Polly ones personally.

Arealhumanbeing · 23/02/2018 12:00

Please please please not the 2 pairs of knickers thing again. Your poor private parts!

OP try Wolford or Pretty Polly.

MichaelBendfaster · 23/02/2018 12:44

I've never had the rolling-down thing and I've tried all kinds, from expensive like Wolford to Primark etc.

Calzedonia are quite good and they have good sales. Big department stores are worth a trawl at sale time – that's where I've usually got my expensive ones. TK Maxx are good for knock-down high-end things too.

There's a brand that keeps showing me ads on FB that claims they don't roll down or wrinkle or dig in. I can't remember the name of them but it might come back to me.

RatherBeRiding · 23/02/2018 12:49

Can't abide tights. When I used to wear skirts to work (nowadays I live in jeggings) I wore long ones that I could get away with plain black leggings underneath.

However I recently bought a pair of Autograph thick woolly tights that are more akin to leggings and was pleasantly surprised that they were a) comfy and b) stayed in place.

ParadiseCity · 23/02/2018 13:38

www.tightsup.com

This is what I mentioned earlier. Solves all tights and leggings issues. Utterly brilliant. I know I sound like an advert, I promise I'm not.

MargoLovebutter · 23/02/2018 13:44

I love tights and hate not wearing them. I tend to wear glossy nudes in the summer because I hate not wearing tights so much.

I have occasionally had roll down issues with tights that didn't contain enough lycra.

Primark do fantastic tights. Having only bought M&S for years, I am a convert and do a job lot purchase every time I'm there.

WheresTheHooferDoofer · 23/02/2018 13:54

I never wear tights. I have worn stockings and a suspender belt for 30+ years. I never have a problem, and you can get some good opaque stockings too. PS, I'm fat so you don't have to be slim to wear them.

Astrabees · 23/02/2018 13:57

I get mine in Sainsburys, they seem to fit well and don't misbehave.
If my tights are too small they grip hold of my knickers and together begin to make their way down to my knees, before I realised what caused this I had some worrying moments doing the food shopping.

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/02/2018 14:01

Don't the lines of the suspended belt and it's clips show through close fitting clothes?

LouiseCollins28 · 23/02/2018 14:05

Thanks for the tip about Primark Margolovebutter, never bought tights from there but I might give it a go if they are durable and look nice.

I agree about glossy nude shade ones, I wear those in summer, either gloss (or not actually) mostly Pretty Polly ones

tapdancingmum · 23/02/2018 16:20

I used to wear stockings and suspenders but didn't like the dragging down feeling at the top of them so went to tights. I have worn many many tights and will also vouch for Wolford. They are expensive but fit so well and feel so light you don't even know you are wearing them.

After doing some research into suspender belts I didn't realise you can get them with more clips than the original two. I now have a marvellous one with 3 clips per side and I feel so much safer. It's been a long time since I have worn clingy clothes so can't remember if you can see the bumps but I think not.

Tights will only roll down if they are too small - if you buy the correct size they will fit well. I only ever wear my Wolford's or M&S ones now.

lubeybooby · 23/02/2018 16:22

get heist tights - they are honestly every bit as good as they say they are and cheaper than wolford - and they last ages. Still got two pairs going strong that I bought in November with at least weekly wear.

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/02/2018 17:22

Best nude tights I've found are Falke's Shelina 8 (or is it 10?) denier. Comes in several natural looking shades and once on just looks like you've got a bit of a tan.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/02/2018 19:17

Knickers then tights then a pair of knickers over the top. Stop all that falling down. Buy black ones and then they just look like part of your tights. Problem solved.

extinctspecies · 23/02/2018 19:50

Falke make the very best tights.

Closely followed by Wolford.

I have been getting facebook ads from a new type of tights which never roll down, but I can't remember their name.

I tidied my sock drawer yesterday and probably now have enough tights to last for the rest o f my life.
