I’ll admit I haven’t always been an angel with the motorway speed limit, but my fb feed has been full of posts about the new M25 average speed cameras near me, basically it’s now impossible to go over 70 without being caught.
I’m finding it a much nicer drive and the road flows well. Rather than constantly being forced to the lanes with lorries doing 60 by aggressive nutters who fluctuate from 60-100 between lanes barrelling up and everyone constantly lane chopping for the sake of the nutty speed driver the whole thing is flowing better. Cars are basically in two lanes and you can be doing a steady 70 without any need to brake for miles and the lorries can do their thing in the other two along with the odd 50mph driver being squeezed in. The lanes are utilised better, without lots being wary of the fast lane and everyone squeezing left too much.
Consistently my journeys have been quicker than usual. Than when I was pulling out in fast lanes and being compelled to break the speed limit to match traffic or getting over into slow lorries to get out the way of boy racers/ people waaay over the speed limit. It’s also easy as a drive without so much speed change and watching lane changes.
